Shooter video games

For what system? There are lots. My favorite was the Dreamcast, it had both House of the Dead 2 and Confidential Mission which were great shooters. You can also get House of the Dead 2 for the PC now though.

The playstation 2 has Time Crisis 2, probably one of the best shooters out. Not aware of any others for it though. (the old playstation 1 has Time Crisis 1 and a few more kiddie styled gun games).

The Xbox has House of the Dead 3 and perhaps a couple others.

If you visit a quality arcade they are likely to have Crisis Zone (SWEET game with a lightly recoiling SMG and very interactive backgrounds, killer fun) as well as Time Crisis 3 (and the older 1 and 2, also with lightly recoiling weapons), there are also some Police Simulator arcade games and a competition ISPC-style shooting game among others. Loads of fun...

For the PC there is aforementioned HOTD 2 port, as well as some Wild West "Mad Dog McCree" games. You can play with the mouse or buy a lightgun. If you are into emulation you can also get arcade emulation stuff and get Area 51, Police Trainer etc running on your PC with MAME. Numerous older arcade titles (like Lethal Enforcers) can be emulated too.

I would be interested in the lightgun, not the mouse. I got onto a FATS simulator a couple of weeks ago and was greatly humbled from what I can do on a square range with a real gun. Now I'm looking to see if there's a way to modify the gun to work in a more realistic model of a real gun.

I think a game that runs into a television would be better than a PC only because large TV screens are relatively cheap compared to large PC monitors.

Of course, the problem with video games I've seen is that they are a huge firefight with an occasional no-shoot thrown in, while the FATS is no-shoot most of the time.

I guess what I'm looking for is a poor-man's FATS.

Duck Hunt. That was my favorite. I didn't know you could so many ducks with a handgun. That poor poor dog though. :D

You know, I've always thought it would be cool if someone developed a video game accessory for your pistol that would replace the barrel with a light-gun thingy.

That way you could play a video game and get some dry-fire practice in at the same time.

The thing Cabela's sells is pretty cool, but its a front projection setup that costs about 3 grand. Thats a lotta cake.
I bought an XBox just for House Of The Dead 3. Great arcade light gun game. I also just picked up Silent Scope, but haven't had a chance to play it much. There is a scoped rifle out for this one, but I haven't seen it yet. Only problem with the XBox light guns is that they're neon green and look like glue guns. I've been thinking of taking the guts out of mine and trying to put them in a Beretta 92 airsoft pistol.

Now we can't have something in the ultra PC market today that even resembles a real gun, now can we.

You know that! :(
