I don't know much about either, tell me if I'm right. Free floating, there is no material touching the barrel to create pressure points againist the barrel. Glass Beding creates the same pressure on the barrel all the way thru the stock, is this correct?

I put a Hawkens together and it is shooting high then low, back and forth out of control. I read a post somewhere, don't remember where, and the guy had the answer to this problem. I'm shooting the old maxi-ball 320 gr. in a Green Mountain 1-28 twist barrel.
Who is the maker of the Lyman Revolvers? Is Lyman still around? Does anyone have one of these revolvers? How is the quality, would you buy another one?
I shot 72 rounds thru my 1860 Army today, then disassembled it. I scrubed it in Dawn detergent and water with a toothbrush, and ran soapy patches thru the barrel and cylinder like I allways do. Then it was dried with a towel and dried with a blow dryer. Dry patches ran thru the cylinder and...
I have a 2nd gen. Colt Walker, the #11 caps are too small. I have to push them on real hard and they just split down the sides. Does anyone stock a bigger cap? I have heard of different sizes other than a #10 or #11, where can I get a bigger size?
If I can't get bigger caps, does anyone know...
Here is my new Pietta 1860.
Here is my changed to an old 1860 after the blueing was removed.
Took off all the writing on the barrel. Filed it off with medium size file, then went to a small file, then cleaned it up with sand paper.
Took it out in the back yard and tried it...
We need a TV show on the Outdoor channel that would come on once a week about blackpowder shooting. It could cover revolvers, building your own flintlock, all the way to inlines, and everything in between.Cleaning procedures, testing loads, shooting the Colt Walker,it could go on forever.
Anybody...
I done a test to compare 777primers to Federal primers. The 777's claim to be not as strong,so they will not push the load up the barrel before it ignites.I took my ramrod with the cleaning jag and a patch and pushed it down the barrel, then inserted the primer and laid the rifle on its side and...
I shot my 1851 Navy yesterday for the first time and it shoots to the left about 4" at 25 yards. Well that's funny I bought a new 1858 and it shot the same way,4" to the left. Someone talked about this just a couple of days ago, maybe its me and not the guns! I'm new to this revolver shooting...
:confused:I took my Colt 1851 out of the box and brought it to life yesterday.I found three problems.I was using #10CCI's they were too big,I don't know of a smaller one,is there a smaller one,or do I need to change the nipples out? I've heard about the Tresso Nipples being the way to go. I...
I took the 1858 in the backyard today and set up at 25 yds, 25 grains of fffg Goex, .454 speer. The CCI # 10's were tight, #11's loose, so I ran a #11 pinched with no problems. I used a lubepill between the powder and ball, it worked great with no problems. This gun grouped as well as my 1860...
