Is Part Of My AR Gas System Worn Out?

Gas port in the barrel can wear, too. If it gets bad enough you WILL have cycling problems.

    Mauser 98 firing pin

Without knowing more, I would be concerned about those rings showing on those cases. Makes me think you have incipient case separations. Between that and the flattened primers I'm guessing that your headspace is off.

Genuine Oil by Birchwood Casey - Life of an Opened Bottle?

So seal it. Use a piece of Ziplock bag or similar between the bottle and the cap. That helps, too.

SIG 230 SL Stainless / Refinishing question

Instead of sandpaper try a red Scotchbrite pad. Strokes all in the same direction and pick it up at the end of each stroke. No back and forth.

Looking for some insight in the re-building of Browning Hi-Powers

No more than on a 1911 or any other common semi auto. Yes. Best is subjective. Depends on your accuracy goals and budget. BarSto, KKM, BH Spring Solutions, Midwest Gun Works, Brownells. No. While some custom shops have done that in the past, it was usually because the slide had been chopped...

    Rifle chamber machining issue

If you have confirmed that it is indeed a "chip/chunk" missing and not some debris then it needs to go back.

Has anyone gone to the Sonoran Desert Institute?

I never made any money at it. Had plenty of business for my part time work. I focused mostly on 1911s, S&W revolvers, and Ruger revolvers along with some sales. It was fun until it wasn't (I would have brought it to you tomorrow, but I need it yesterday). I resigned myself to the fact that I had...

    Barrel swap with a S&W 37

There is significantly greater risk of trashing the aluminum frame. If you are determined to do this then plan on sacrificing the barrel to preserve the frame. A relief groove carefully cut a few thousandths (leaving a very thin sliver of barrel) ahead of the shoulder (gonna take a lathe and...

    S&W 638 Cylinder Swap

WEll, sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't. The chances of getting lucky seem to wax and wane with the furtunes of the company. The modern machinery hold tighter tolerances, but the specs have changed rapidly over the last few years. And the workforce has turned over repeatedly. So...

    Cheap Hobby lathe

Look for a good used South Bend 9" swing. Very common and good supply of parts to keep them going. Mine has the quick change gear box. The one that I learned on you had to swap the gears. Not a big deal. Just happened to find a good one with the quick change. Picke up a draw bar and collets for...

    Quandary with S&W service

I did have a long history with them. Not so much anymore. They have lost most or all of their really well trained service staff. The ones there now are just parts swappers as far as I can tell. And S&W now restricts many of the parts that I used to be able to order. So it's a double curse.

    Need screw-in sight

Brownells. https://www.brownells.com/gun-parts/shotgun-parts/shotgun-sights-parts/?sort=NumberOfReviews It probably WAS a shotgun sight. If you want a Patridge it will most likely require that a slot and pin hole, or a dovetail be cut in the base to accept a sight.

    Savage Accutrigger Question

Using those same springs, yes, you do lose that ability. As noted, replacement springs are available, and using new springs will restore the original state.

    Assemble or disassemble for parkerizing.

I have used an old Pyrex dish that my wife was going to throw out to do a small batch of parts. So heat safe glass will work, too. The problem will be finding one large/deep enough to do anything but small batches. If you decide to try a Pyrex type dish don't use your wife's without permission...

    Assemble or disassemble for parkerizing.

The phosphoric acid in the Parkerizing solution will eat the aluminum. The tank won't fail the first, second, or 20th timme you use it for that, but you don't want the disolved aluminum in the mix with the Park getting deposited on your gun. No one knows what effect that will have on the finish...
