Oh, I forgot that the grip safety had to be squeezed extremly hard to disengage the safety. THIS while trying to make a steady smooth trigger pull with a sometimes binding trigger.
I bought one of the first ones made. The good the bad and the very ugly.:
I took mine to the range with both light and heavy S.D. reloads with several different 124/125 gr RN and JHPs.
The Good: The pistol pointed perfectly and felt great in my smallish hands. The sights were good enough...
Guys, I do appreciate the suggestions and liked the looks of the Cabellas/ Allen/ Boyt padded cases (ALL are mostly the same case). Those that have one, does the case or padding absorb water? If so, does it dry out easily?
The hard case I "had" took days to dry the foam" .
If a little...
I'd appreciate a recommendation for a good 49"-50" soft padded semi-auto shotgun scabbard with a shoulder strap to make it easier to carry along with my pistol bag and other gear. I've been using a cheap hard case that I hate and is awkward to carry from range to range.
I did some searching on...
"Opinion" on high rd count pistols and steel cases:
1. A friend loads 9mm major power factor/hot loads: He "missed" culling the S&B steel case that is thinly copper coated and "looks" exactly like brass. When the round expanded in the chamber it jammed....hard... and couldn't be cleared...
Catch 22:
If you reload, the only risk you run is to load up a lot of ammo and then find a load (or loads) that you much prefer. That can leave you with with a lot of ammo that may not match your shooting skills.
Black rear and FO front. Red works best for my mature eyes.
For me, color on the rear sight were distractions from the front sight on target centered in the slot.
The HF & Frankford Arsenal digital calipers work fine for loading 9mm.
The Frankford model is by far my oldest and has a larger display that's nice. This one always compares within .0005" readout of the H.F. caliper I now use most of the time.
Be sure to check for zero periodically..takes 5...
I agree and also have used turret press and Pro-Disks for years.
The Auto-Drum catches my eye because I'm tired of modifying disk holes to get those "in-between" hole loads---like 4.1, 4.2, 4.3grs, Etc.
I have Disk holes modded to accurately drop all these, but changing powder or bullet...
In Powder Characteristics another issue that some have found to be a factor to consider is the cleanliness of the burn.
Two of the Reverse Temp. Sensitive powders above--n320 and 7625--- are Single Based Powders. SBPs have no Nitro-G and tend to burn cleaner and run 'cooler'. In a 400-500 rd...
Just cut a slot in the side of the hex head of a small bolt the fits into the mag. Place the mag lip in the slot and open/close to spec dimensions, and keep them parallel. Easily made and works well. Dimensions were posted on Rimfire Central a number of years back.
My 9mm Sig P-239 was bought back in the last century, and was first used when I started shooting USPSA. It still shoots to POA at 25yrds and is my edc. TOTAL failures = ZERO, and this isn't some internet exaggeration. It really has never had a part fail or fail to fire with a LOT of rds...
I agree with Rule3.
Yours is a unique problem in my and reloader friends' experiences.
I reload 9mm on a LEE turret press. Like a single stage, this gives a "feel" for each reloading step.
I also sort by headstamp and only use Federal SPPs, so handle pull pressure is fairly consistent. I...
When I finally got my refund, I decided Remington wasn't someone I wanted to deal with.
It took a "YEAR" to get the refund, and 90+% of the time I couldn't even get a response. When I did get a response, they said "WE (Remington) didn't really know" and would try to find out. Expect a...
9X19 cases: I prefer some over others, simply because they are 1. more consistent in my Lee turret press, 2. they are durable, 3. they provide good neck tension, and lastly 4. some have good karma with my CZs. I sort by headstamp.
In order of preference:
WIN
R&P
WCC Nato, reamed
FC
I do...
BDS +1! Lee Disc system, with disc holes modified for a number of my comp. loads.
Check until consistent. Use check weights---I have one within .1 grs as 90% of my loads.
Until I change something/anything, I'm done checking drops until the press hasn't been used for a few days. Then I...
I've never bought a 9mm case. Somewhere around 80,000 - 90 thousand loads. 60K were in one pistol I still use as a back-up gun. I reuse the cases until the primer hole 'feels' loose or the case starts to split at the case mouth.
Win, WCC Nato, R&P, PPU and some F.C. & Speer (both ATK and...
I like and use the FCD for 9mm thick plated and jacketted bullets. They do not resize these bullets if adjusted properly for taper crimp. I personally wouldn't use them for lead or coated lead oversized bullets. It will resize them in some or all cases if the diameter of the bullet is a...
