Thanks guys,
I think the oil/rag will do a good job on the bolt and it's parts. I've got a section of about 1 inch of butt plate that is very heavily pitted . .I'll see if I can rub it out a bit . . . not sure if I want to take it down to shiny metal or not though. Was hoping it was brass...
Just picked up a Carcano (Terni Fucili Corto - 6.5 with gain twist rifling) that needs alot of love. I think I've gotten the bore from looking like a complete loss to just having dark grooves (lots of patches and Hoppes #9). This rifle however has quite a bit of rust/pitting on the top of the...
I'll give you $50 . .let me know when you're ready to ship. :)
Seriously . . . I'd probably invest in an appraisal of it as guns in that shape can be worth some serious bucks. There's a guy up here near me (simpsonltd galesburg IL . .you can google him) that might be a good place to start...
No problem at all . .I think your biggest problem would be the supply of replacement barrels. (as RRA is probably your only supplier . .but I don't know)
The tools you'd need to replace a barrel are available from Brownells and I don't think you'd spend much more than $60 for the set that...
I don't because the bug bit me in 2004. :)
FWIW - you can get over the "Expensive" AR thing by building one yourself . .it's dead simple and it has the attraction of being able to buy one "part" per paycheck to spread out the cost. (Building them is DEAD simple). If it was me I'd order a...
Happy 10FLP owner here!
IMHO don't waste your money on stuff in the 150gr range . . . .your rifle has a 1-10 twist and will like stuff in the 168gr+ range.
I've got a Burris FullField II 3-9 on mine right now in warn "Maxima" rings. Really good mid-lower price range setup. (I think I...
Springfield M1A "Loaded" model here . .couldn't be happier.
On the Chinese one's (Norinco) I wouldn't hesitate to buy one if the price is right. The recent "panic" made most Norinco's I've seen go for over 1k though so I'd buy a SA for that kind of money. When you could find Norinco's in...
Either of those rifles will do both of the tasks you've outlined without any modifications.
For my money I'd probably use the 7mm for both tasks as it'll easily handle deer and target shooting around 100 yards. I'd look for a no-gunsmithing mount from B-Square for it to see if you can get...
Just picked up a nice 30/30 from my neighbor, serial # 3039xxx . .mfg appears to be 1967, I'd say it's in 96% condition with the only strange thing being a missing buttplate and a pachmayer decellerator pad that's not fit to the stock. (the stock has not been rasped, refinished or anything)...
Get the Garand . .. .$596 from the CMP and cheap ammo. Current wait is around 100 days, but the smiles you get when you hear:
Bang bang bang bang . . .Bang . .bang bang bang PING
Is Priceless!
I'd be in for some more if you were competive with the guy I'm currently buying from ( metaltargets.com ) As you've been told the shipping the major drawback. I've always thought it'd be a nice "winter" hobby to load up an enclosed trailer with a few thousand pounds of targets and hit the...
castboolits.gunloads.com - There's a forum there for military rifles and there are quite a few guys shooting them in Garands and M1A's. (FWIW)
Good Luck!
For me it's a 420 grain PB FN cast out of a Lee 6 banger that I bought on a group buy over on castboolits.gunloads.com It has two square bottomed lube grooves and crimp groove. It took forever to get the molds but they come out at .460 if I do my part and I can size them to the gun. (I...
I'd guess you're going to get very frustrated trying to use a hotplate. . ..but it might work.
FWIW - harbor freight had cast iron dutch ovens for $12 last time I was there.
+1 on Graf's. Midway is a good company but I don't buy anything from them unless it's on sale anymore. FWIW
Natchezss.com is pretty good IF you are using a paper manual to make up your order. Their website is horrible.
Lefty here . .. .I "can" shoot right handed rifles fairly well. (primarily mil-surp).
But I did invest ina left handed boltie (savage 10flp) and man is it nice to cycle the action without having to slightly drop the butt or lose my cheek weld.
Just my .02
Regards,
Dave
FWIW I was able to buy USGI (still in greasepaper)15 round mags at the last gunshow I was at. It did take a bit of looking . ..but they're absolutely flawless.
Regards,
Dave
+1 on USSR's brass. I've bought 500 rounds off of him and it's good stuff. FWIW.
I also have bought off of midway when they have the seasonal once fired . .requires the use of a SB sizing die to get it to chamber in my rifles. Worth the extra $ to buy from USSR.
have a good one,
Dave
I think you sell it and give me a hell of a deal. :)
