No need to worry, I understand, now, that heavier bullets requires less powder, not more. I was thinking the heavier weight of the bullet would need more powder to give it more "oomph." But it makes sense to me that the focus is pressure, not powder.
Plus, I wouldn't have loaded without doing...
At the moment, I'm using 17.4gr of IMR 4198 (Hornady book calls for 17.2). But I've never reloaded before, so I actually have 5 or 6 different powders & 3 or 4 different bullet design/weight combinations that I want to try. To see if there's a decent difference in accuracy.
Hello guys & gals,
So I bought these 62grs here: https://www.midsouthshooterssupply.com/item/001532276c250/22-caliber-point224-diameter-62-grain-bthp-with-cannelure-250-count
But the closest weights I have to these 62grs in my Hornady reloading book are 60gr or 68gr.
Should I just do some...
Haha thanks man. I appreciate it. I definitely do intend on chasing some good accuracy wit my AK. I currently only have Nosler & Hornady loading manuals; so I guess I'll have to get Lapua also! I think I might get a Speer manual for pistols too. Or I may just stick with Hornady. Who knows.
I...
See, I just don't know which sized lead balls to buy since I don't know the diameter of the bore. On the website I'm lookin at right now, I have 2 choices - .310" & .315" lead balls. Both advertised as .32 caliber.
So, if my bore is .311, & the grooves are ~.319 (like GBExpat said could be possible), would I kind of be screwed unless I started casting my own bullets?
My bad for all these questions, man. Lol
So if this ends up being the case (bore dia. = .311; & groove dia. = ~.319) what diameter bullets would you recommend?
& is it common for AKs to have a .311" bore & ~.319 groove diameter?
I googled "slugging ak47 barrel;" & found a video of a guy doing a "chamber cast" with "chamber cast...
Hello guys & gals.
I'm just getting into loading; & just bought my first AK. The AK is a GF3 Moekov from PalmettostateArmory.
Customer service says the bore is .311". Hornady sells bullets that are .310".
Excuse my ignorance; but can I do this? Lol. Can I buy some .310" Hornady 123gr SPs &...
Does a faster burning powder make a big difference in loudness & flash?
& what about ballistics? I ruled out a short barreled .223 a while because it seemed like the obnoxiousness was too much to deal with. Especially coupled with weak ballistics.
Currently, I've got 55gr BT-FMJ; & 60gr SP. Both Hornady.
See, this is another I'd like to know (that I didn't even think about) - is which powders have "best" temperature stability.
I live where it gets below 20s in winter; & over 100 in summer.
So there's another thing I'd love anybody to...
Hello guys & gals.
So I'm just getting into reloading. I've got 2 manuals so far - Nosler & Hornady.
In my Nosler book, it shows 'most accurate load' within the, like, 12 different powders they've tested. I love that they do this because it gives me a general place to start in regards to which...
