In the current issue of Handloader, Brian Pearce has an article with some loading data for 38 Special. One of the max loads is a 158 gr SWCHP with 4.7 gr of Titegroup. I have no doubt it was safe in the 357 N-frame S&W he was using, but I've never seen that high a load listed anywhere else...
I was listening to the radio and caught the lyric:
"You don't have to live out in the sticks, with an F150 and a thirty ought six"
It got me to wondering how you would explain how universal the 30-06 is to somebody who knew nothing about guns. So picked the Tool Analogy. I would say the...
I've read advice that once fired brass is more reliable than brand new brass because any defects in the new brass would be revealed with the first firing. That makes sense to me, but I wonder how common it is. Does anybody know of a failure of new brass (rifle or pistol, factory or handloads...
here is the story
They are still trying to find out how, who fired, etc. The link will expire soon so this is what is there:
ISLE OF WIGHT - A Civil War re-enactor who was injured during a documentary film shoot over the weekend was struck in the shoulder by a shot apparently fired from...
Assuming a 38 special load with a 158 grain bullet, which would contribute less to global warming?
A load with 3.5 grains of Titegroup.
Or a case full of black powder.
I know the black has a lot more volume, but it burns so ineffeciently that maybe it leaves a smaller carbon...
If this has been done before please point me at the thread. Anyway I was wondering what people use for primary home defense. "Beside" may not be the correct term, so what is the gun closest to you when you are asleep in your house?
Saw an ad in Rifle magazine for this new powder. The ad directs you to www.imrpowder.com but the newest thing on their website is from January 2006. Anybody know when it's supposed to be out?
Unless you’ve been asleep for a while you have noticed that the price of primers is going up pretty fast. Given that, why isn’t the cost of those cartons of cheap 22 LR going up too? It might be apples and oranges, but it doesn’t seem that a primer should cost more than a 22 cartridge with its...
http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d110:h.r.0096:
Respectfully submitted for discussion, this is recently proposed legislation to have some federal regulation of gun shows.
With apologies to the wizard of Oz, what do you have the most of? I’m wondering what the interests are of the majority here.
I hope this makes sense. If you had 5 handguns, 3 rifles, and 2 shotguns you would vote for the second option.
This is sad at so many levels. But it is gun related because this gang, after stomping a woman to death, broke into another house and used a knife and a fake gun to threaten the family. The guy took away the fake gun and used it to pound on the punks until they left. Real tough guys...
Suppose you are attacked by a mob of democrates. Nancy P, their leader, wants you to surrender your weapon. Do you give in and live to fight another day?
(sorry, some of the "scary dem":uhoh: posts are getting to me)
Here are two stories:
1. I was going hunting with a partner and we came upon a truck blocking the trail. We were on leased land, about a half mile from the public road, and this fire trail was the only way in to the area. We knew everybody who could legally hunt there and recognized the...
This was in the local Hampton paper yesterday. The library had posted a sign saying "no weapons", but the law says they can not do that. So a citizen is trying to get the city moving by going armed in the library. This writer, Tamara Dietrich, thinks that is wrong, and interviewed a 12 year...
I was wondering how common it is for people to use the built in locks that are now common on new guns. For purposes of this poll, "use" means that you have used it to lock the gun and stored it that way when not in use. Trying it out does not count.
