Purchased a Pieta 1851 44 with 4 7/8 barrel, steel frame for 235 bucks. (Old South Traders) It was a good price so I jumped on it.
Now the hunt begins for ammo. Luckily I have a couple tins of caps and some powder. I shoot flintlock and percussion rifle so I have most everything except round...
I am thinking 36 caliber steel frame 1851. Now just finding one will be a challenge. Everything seems to be sold out. I would hate to have to use one for home defense.
Been looking at bp revolvers for years. Can you recommend the ones are less likely to jam or misfire? I like to tinker on guns but some guns
can't be improved. Trying not to make a bad choice. thanks Hank (bullskater)
RCBS full length and small base dies. Cases look fine. Some must have been loaded hot but they are not bulged. I have some mil ammo that I pulled the bullets out of. They are new never fired. I can't get them to size.
The brass stop about half way into the die. I have changed dies, lube and stood on the press handle but some cases will not work. The cases are clean, the brass is mixed factory fired in bolt action rifles. The depriming rod was removed to insure it was not in the way. I tried cleaning the dies...
Just tried to size some assorted once fired 308 brass lubed with stp. About half of them could not be sized. I weigh 270lbs and use a rcbs full lenght and a small base die with a rcbs jr. Have not loaded rifle ammo in years so was wondering what equipment would make this job easy?
I carry a 45C taurus 450TI. Most factory 250gr ammo runs around 625 fps. The barrel is 2inchs and is ported. My 2.5 inch barrel charter arms 44spl is the same size and weight as the taurus. 44 spl factory ammo gives better performance in a snub than any 45 colt ammo I have tested in the taurus...
We have loads of snakes here in South GA. I have killed a lot of the poisonous ones when possible. Snakes are easy to kill with about any gun. The trouble is when when you try to shoot one they are most often moving. A 20 gauge shotgun or larger work great. As far as shot size it depends on the...
I kill every poisonous snake I can near my house. Have lost two dogs to snakes. My neighbor and nephew were bitten by snakes. They were in bad shape for weeks. We have lots of them in South GA. I kill 5 or 6 a year in the yard. Mostly Coppperheads. You can make pets out them if you want. To each...
Just loaded some .429 120 grain wad cutter bullets from a a old Lee mold. I stacked two and loaded them to 725 fps second. At 10 feet they spread about half a inch and at 20 yards they spread about 2 inches. Should be a good trail load for snakes or wild dogs.
I fired it in a taurus 44 mag with a 4in barrel. The 7 grains of unique with a 360 grain bullet made the case stick a little. To hot for special brass. I loaded a 360 gr bullet with 5 grains of unique and got 625fps from a 2.5 inch charter bulldog.
Do my results sound right?
I loaded 7 grains of unique under a 240 grain lead swc. Velocity was 840fps.
I loaded 7 grains of Unique under a 360 grain lead swc. Velocity was 935fps.
I would think the heavier bullet would go slower not faster?
99% percent safe. I had a semi auto go off in my pocket in a holster with the safety on. The disassembly button got bumped which caused the gun to go off. Glad I was not in church. This has not happened to me again in 30 years but i worry. Thats why now I carry a good quality revolver. (the gun...
