For those who pocket carry, do you feel a little weird if you're sitting in church, or a restaurant, etc., knowing that your pocket gun is pointing at the person sitting across from you?

Doesn't bother me.
I keep it in a holster with the trigger covered. As a general rule of thumb as long as the trigger isn't pulled it want shoot. So if it ALONE in the pocket and in a holster I don't really care where it's pointed, never enters my mind.

I am guessing that most folks carrying IWB or OWB never give a second thought while climbing stairs so I am not about to get paranoid about my properly holstered pocket pistol.

99% percent safe. I had a semi auto go off in my pocket in a holster with the safety on. The disassembly button got bumped which caused the gun to go off. Glad I was not in church. This has not happened to me again in 30 years but i worry. Thats why now I carry a good quality revolver. (the gun was a ss 25 auto, don't remember the name)

If I have a gun in a pocket it's a little NAA mini revolver in a Galco pocket holster. I'm not worried about where it's pointed in the least. Just like I'm not worried about where any other properly holstered, properly functioning pistol is pointed.

Nope, its holsterd and Im not playing w/ it so its safe, gund dont just 'go off' its usually a malfunction of the operator when they do

This
Do you feel funny when you walk past your safe or storage racks and there is a gun pointed at you...

Think about it, cause at some point, you do walk in the direction a muzzle is pointed.
A gun is an object, this question is like being afraid a hammer is going to jump out of your tool box and smash your finger.

I feel the same way I do when wearing a shoulder rig or even a iwb holster. It's not going to go off if in a proper holster operator error is the fault 99.9% of the time. If you dont need it, don't mess with it. Problem solved.

It wont just go bang in the night just sitting in a holster.
Maybe this will ease your mind.
Last year while running across the driveway to get out of a very heavy rain I slipped and fell full body force on my pistol..It did not go off due to the fact that it has a firing pin block.
So if that kind of blow does not cause it to go off what's the chance that it will go off and hit Aunt Martha who is sitting across the couch from you as you are sitting there all by it's lonsesome in a holster while you are having a conversation??

Never had any concerns because my BUG - an LCR - is always in a pocket holster.

With a proper pocket holster I do not see any issues, nor have I had any.

Good luck and be safe

Never gave it a thought

If you are referring to the Four Gun Handling Rules, they don't apply under these circumstances...unless you are handling that gun in your pocket :what:

The disassembly button got bumped which caused the gun to go off.

What kind of pistol was it? That should not be happening, and sounds like a design flaw of pretty serious magnitude.

Remember that the four rules are not applicable to a HOLSTERED firearm. They cannot be. The rules are for humans, not for the firearms.

One day out in the woods walking with my wife we spotted an owl and I squatted down to take a pic and noticed I was pointing at my wife

Stopped doing it after that

I figure I am responsible for EVERY bullet that comes out of that gun and I am going to take as few risks as possible.

Just my feelings on it, you do as you wish

And there you have the correct answer.

Some consideration might be in order as the hand enters the pocket before a draw ... situation permitting ... but that will likely be done standing.

Your single (severe!) malfunction hardly makes all other autopistols unsafe, although I have a new thing to test on my pocket pistols now (which are DA only, I'm not too concerned)

If the gun is properly holstered and in proper working order, the chance of it spontaneously firing and injuring someone is bordering on nil. At some point, you have to stop worrying about things like this and trust that a properly holstered gun is simply not a realistic threat to anyone.

Nope, not a bit worried.
I have never, ever heard of a modern gun in proper repair "going off" by itself (MSM hype excluded).

I have also worn a Smart Carry without the reservations some seem to experience.

NO! I carry a 38 Old Charter Undercover it will not go off unless I pull the trigger. It is covered in my Blackhawk Pocket Holster except for the Grip.
