When it comes to statutory interpretation we start with the text. We then look to see if a term is defined in the code. Here the terms "hollow nose or dum-dum bullet" are not. We then would use the plain language and if that is vague start to use our other statutory interpretation tools to...
I attend a 3 day shooting course but it was relatively low round count. If I recall it was 400-500 rounds between the 3 days. One participant brought a body guard 380. It was the gun this person intended to carry. Before the end of day two it died. I wasn’t able to examine the gun and never...
I have one and really like it. I like it more than my sig p238. The sig has better sights. I can’t say I’ve put tons of rounds through it (I own a bunch of small 380s and mostly shoot 9mm anyways) but haven’t had any reliability issues.
If I were going to carry a small 380 as a primary I think...
You also don’t want an unnecessarily heavy trigger that only makes the gun more difficult to shoot well. While I’d agree a 2 lbs trigger might not be the best idea, if one is relying on a heavy trigger to be safe that’s a problem too.
I hope when the OP gives us his impressions about the gun...
Yes it would aid in that. You will probably hear people deride weapon mounted lights (wml). Most of those criticisms simply show their lack of understanding in proper use.
The only down sides to adding the TLR are: 1 you have to pay for it. That said you should be able to find it for under...
I also believe the Chiapa mc14 mentioned earlier in this thread is blow back in the 380 flavor. like the grand power and witness guns when they make the 380 it is blowback. RIA did the same with their 380 1911 style gun. I assume it is just cheaper and easier to build a blow back gun and 380...
Are you sure your single action colt pony wasn’t a mustang or a government model. The pony is much less common and is a double action. As an aside Colt offers the mustang, pony and pocket nine ahead of their time when Concealed cary wasn’t nearly as common.
As to the gun the op is searching...
The nighthawk shadow hawk, it’s stupid expensive but can be had in the configuration you want.
For a defensive pistol I wouldn’t be using s budget micro RDS mounted on the slide.
I would largely agree with the above. As an owner of a PS90 I would not pick it over an AR for defensive use. Terminal ballistics alone are a night and day difference and very significant factor as far as I am concerned.
Likelihood of prolonged firefights aside, once can put a 60 round...
You might have been able to call it a fad 15 or more years ago. Even when the PDW concept was being developed/pushed and there were more users adopting them I don't know that it really ever amounted to a fad, defined as "an intense and widely shared enthusiasm for something, especially one that...
Honestly, if right now I could recoup all the money I have wrapped up in 300 Blk and divest myself of my guns, ammo and reloading supplies for that round I would. It is a versatile round, but there is nothing it does, that I need/want to do, that something else doesn't due better or acceptably...
So they have the BK 14 on sale 50% off from $62.38 making it $31.19. Which means their big cyber Monday sale has that knife listed at a higher price than I could buy it for any day of the year. Knifecenter seemed to be having a similar "sale" on things.
One of the more inane statements I’ve read with respect to concealed carry.
First it’s a pistol not a purse. I don’t need it to be cool, pretty or impressive to others. It’s not a fashion accessory or a toy. It’s a tool. It’s not for my entertsinent it’s for my protection.
Second having the...
Glock 17 with Surefire 300 carries AIWB (this may be replaced with a RDS equipped 19 soon) Spare 21 round magazine. Ruger LCP. The knives are a Shivworks clinch pick, spyderco ARK and a spyderco dragonfly (sometimes I carry something else in place of the dragonfly)
IIRC Mr. Hackathorn was shooting an M&P with some work done to it (top slide serreations and I’m not sure what else) at the class I went to. He also had a Wilson combat 1911 that he shot too.
The 2.0s may have changed things but I can recall when guys were getting M&Ps for the ergos but then...
Various aspects of the gun can factor into felt recoil. My blowback pistols seems to have more felt recoil than I’d otherwise expect given their size and weight and chambering.
If you took two identical guns and ported one it would be both slightly lighter and probably have less felt recoil...
Since I have almost all of those guns I’m intrigued to see the way you rank them and how it lines up with my subject perception.
I’ll also add that subjectively I’d rank my steyr M9 as a softer shooter than all of them. I believe the low bore axis and grip design that allows me to get a very...
The ark is a great design. The folts is another favorite. I prefer the ark because it sits flatter and being H1 is impervious to rust.
The ark is something I can carry all day everyday. I can wear it in the office, while I’m working out, and even in the shower. In the role I use mine, the H1...
I don’t really have what I’d call a “fighter.” I do have some small defensive knives which is what the OP seemed to be refering to.
The top knife is a shivworks clinch pick.
The second knife is a spyderco reverse.
The last one is spyderco ARK. It is hands down the best neck knife (for what I...
