    .338 Federal and Hornady FTX?

Anyone seen any information on loading .338 Federal with the Hornady 200-grain FTX bullets? I've looked all over. I contacted Hornady("We don't know, check with Hodgdon"), contacted Hodgdon("We don't have any information on that combination"), and checked every reloading forum I could find...

A question ref cleaning polymer-frame pistols

If one gets really fouled internally, what's the best way to clean it? Flush it out with something, just brush thoroughly? Not very familiar with them, so thought I'd ask opinions.

    Springfield/Stevens Model 56

Anyone know of a place that would have detail-strip instructions on this rifle? Friend has acquired one, and cannot find much of anything on it other than 'made 1930's & 40's'.

What happens when you screw up enormously at BATFE?

You get this as punishment: "The ATF leader who oversaw a botched undercover operation in Milwaukee will now be in charge of the agency's embattled Phoenix office, where agents allowed more than 2,000 guns to walk into the hands of suspected criminals through the infamous "Operation Fast and...

Under the heading of "Only Professionals can be trusted with firearms,

The U.S. Park Police has lost track of thousands of handguns, rifles and machine guns in what a government watchdog agency concluded is the latest example of mismanagement on a police force trusted to protect millions of visitors to the city’s iconic monuments. There is no indication that...

Sen. Coburn is selling us out on background checks

Just spoke to his office, and was told 'yes, the Senator is in favor of universal background checks.' She very quickly added that he's 'not in favor of registration', but that's cold comfort. One of the big problems with ubc has always been it being used as a backdoor into registration...

I just spoke to Sen. Coburn's office, and he's selling us out

He's going along with the universal background check. I don't know if it'll do any good, but if you're from OK, call his office and register your displeasure with this.

    Sometimes a company listens

Mexican restaurants in Oklahoma City named Chileno's, right after the Oklahoma open-carry law went into effect, posted 'no carry' signs. So I wrote to them, noting that they'd had lots of CCW customers over time with no problems, that if they preferred 'no open carry' they could post that...

    Remember the Kellerman study?

The "A gun is far more likely to be used against you" mess the CDC paid a lot of our money for? He's back. "If only we researchers had more money to do more studies, and doctors had more authority to poke into what people own", etc.j

Looking for a spotting scope, something capable of showing .30-caliber bullet holes in paper at 300 yards. And have a hard ceiling on price of ~$200. Any suggestions?

Berdan primers and Swiss 7.5 brass

I had a bunch of 7.5x55 brass saved(such fine quality stuff I couldn't stand putting in the recycle box) just in case ever found some Berdan primers. Then, at the big Tulsa gun show this month, a reloading dealer had some, and I got a brick. They're the Tula KV-7.62N Large Rifle Primers...

    Remington Model 12 reassembly problem

Friend brought this by to see if I could help. Picked up a Model 12, looked up the directions and disassembled to clean it out(did it right, far as I can tell). Problem is that when you try to reassemble it, the rear portion of the received goes most of the way into place, and then stops...

Any experience with the Remington .22 ammo CMP is selling?

Got a notice the other day that CMP is selling cases of Remington .22 ammo, surplus from military use. Has anyone used any of this in the past, any experience with it?

    Colt revolver sideplate screw pitch?

Question occurred, on a Police Positive, anyone know what the pitch of the sideplate screws is? And was it standard on their revolvers, or did it change over different models?

Odd trouble with a Marlin 39A

Shot fine last time used, cycled find after. Disassembled for cleaning, put it back together and now the hammer is following the bolt down. Looks like for some reason the bolt is not pushing the hammer down quite far enough for the full-cock notch to catch on the trigger. Any ideas?

    BSA Sportsman magazine

While back I picked up a Sportsman Five with no magazine. I've checked around with no sign of a magazine*, so I'm going to try making one. Problem is, I haven't been able to find a picture or drawing that clearly shows the magazine, and it'd be easier to plan making one if I know what it...

Looking for a particular anti-self-defense quote

Several years back a biggie in one of the feminist groups(I think NOW) was quoted as saying that for a woman to protect herself against an attacker with a gun made her as morally wrong as the attacker, continues the cycle of violence, etc. I've been trying to find it, no luck so far Anyone...
