gang fire in tube mag centerfire

If you shoot a Savage 99 with it's rotary magazine pointed bullets are not a problem.

    1873 Winchester

I posted in the Firearm Research area some questions about an 1873 Winchester I own but I'm beginning to think I should have posted in this forum. Should I move my post?

    1873 Winchester

I have an 1873 Winchester rifle that I am considering selling. I have no idea as to the value and would appreciate any help I can get. The serial number is 181394 B and I believe it was made in 1884. It has a 24 inch octagonal barrel. The rifle is in decent condition but it does have a few...

    Old Rifle

Thanks to everyone that replied. I really like the rifle but have been trying to decide whether to hunt it or sell it. I have given most of my hunting weapons to my son and only have this 270 and a 300 Savage 99. Being left handed this fancy rifle is basically a single shot for me but might make...

    Old Rifle

Cosmoline, the total engravings consist of the following WAFFEN - II SCHULNIGG, 2410.50., 2.70.9.6.9, 23227, SHIZBURG - AUSTRIA. I hope this info is of help. I have looked all over to no avail for info on this rifle. It appears as though the original manufacturer is in present day Salzburg...

    Old Rifle

I have inherited an old rifle that has been in our family for quite a few years. I appears to be made in Austria before 1952. It has quite a bit of engraving on it and is a bolt action in 270 caliber with a double set trigger. There are inscriptions on the barrel and receiver. Some of the...

The 358 winchester - a true hunters cartridge

I too have a 70's era Savage 99 in .358 Win. Mine is a carbine model with the finger groove stock. It kicks like a mule but is very accurate. I have mine topped with a 1-3 variable scope for hunting elk in the thick stuff.

Lefty bolt action production gun with iron sights? Anyone making them?

For fit and finish the Tikka most likely will win. However the Savage rifles have an excellent reputation for accuracy. Savage tends to put all of their effort into the fit and finish of the inside of the firearm.

    Affinity for the 16 gauge

I got my start in shotgunning using a 16 gauge Ivers Johnson single shot. Darn thing kicked like a mule. My dad still has it.

    Help on Identification

Looks very similar to the Thompson Center logo. However I don't think they ever made a double barreled shotgun.

Hey that's great. I'm glad to hear all is well with your Mossy.

    Mossberg 930 Failure to Fire

Well I'm surprised that the 930SPX doesn't have the seal ring as my 930 waterfowler does. Oh well I'd hoped I could help out. Sorry.

    Mossberg 930 Failure to Fire

I too prefer a tang safety but that may be because I shoot left handed. Also if I'm not mistaken there is a "seal" ring located forward of the gas piston that can be installed backwards.

The best home defense 12 ga shotgun load is...

I prefer #2 lead shot in a 23/4 inch shell. Anyone in an enclosed stairwell is in a world of hurt if they are on the receiving end. It is also unlikely that it will penetrate the walls (both sides) and harm someone on the outside of your home.

How to polish bluing without REBLUING

Try polishing the area with Flitz on a soft cloth. You will be surorised with the results. I sometimes polish the bluing on my Smith pistols if I am going to be out in icy conditions. Flitz makes them so slick the ice doesn't stick.

    gas operated shotguns

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm really looking for a water fowling gun. I'm currently using a Mossberg Regal 500 pump and the recoil is to much for my shoulder. I'm trying to find a reliable gas operated semi-auto for less than $500 and the only one to come to mind is the Rem. SPR 453. A used...

    gas operated shotguns

I need to buy a auto loading shotgun due to a shoulder injury. I currently shoot a pump but my shoulder can't handle the recoil anymore. I'm seriously considering the Remington SPR 453. They are relatively inexpensive and quite reliable. I'm not sure of their recoil though. Does any one have...
