Frank Wesson? Breech Loading Rifle Need Help!

I found out that it is the patent or toolroom example of a William H. & George W. Miller patent from 1865. It was likely manufactured by the MERIDEN MAN'FG.CO. MERIDEN.CONN. These were the same people and company associated with the Triplett and Scott civil war carbine. The receiver is marked...

Frank Wesson? Breech Loading Rifle Need Help!

This is a recently acquired Frank Wesson falling block (actually a raising block) center fire rifle. Barrel is 26" (believed shortened) and the caliber is possibly 35-40 Maynard. Single set trigger, tang sight, figured wood, mirror bore. 2 dovetails cut on the top barrel flat for scope mounting...

Broomhandle Model 1930 Won't Come Apart!

Update: The dealer did get it apart. The safety lever was bent a little and hanging up on the frame. Good ending.

Broomhandle Model 1930 Won't Come Apart!

I took it back to the dealer and got a refund. What a shame! I really liked this gun, but its a pig in a poke if it won't come apart......

Broomhandle Model 1930 Won't Come Apart!

Thanks Commy! Appreciate that comment. I don't think that is the problem though because the gun functions normally and fine. Very smooth action, trigger, safety, bolt, magazine, all works fine and the gun shoots fine. My understanding of the backwards rocker is that the gun totally locks up...

Broomhandle Model 1930 Won't Come Apart!

What is the trick? I have disassembled dozens of Brooms since 1962! I have the mag follower and spring out. I have the hammer cocked and the safety in the firing position. I have the take down latch fully depressed. The inner assembly just won't budge! The gun is a really nice original that I...

Colt Magnum Carry Serial Number 1

Just wondering how I can find a list of Colt Magnum Carry serial numbers. Then I would know if my gun is #1 or #2 Or #3! Of the regular series, Not the 1st Edition series. serial is SY100X! I see that Colt started many of its later model guns at serial XX1001. So maybe they did the Mag Carry's...

Marlin 1894 Cowboy with unusual features?

Turnbull emailed me and said they did the case hardening work in June 2008 on the receiver, lever, bolt etc. They did not do any of the other work on the gun. So it must be a custom. Thanks all!

Marlin 1894 Cowboy with unusual features?

I did post where you said and put up some pictures too! Nobody has it figured out for sure yet.

Marlin 1894 Cowboy with unusual features?

Thanks! But why would Marlin use an older tang and hammer? But the gun has Doug Turnbull level case hardening so maybe someone sent it to him for work etc.? This is factory quality workmanship.

Marlin 1894 Cowboy with unusual features?

I emailed Marlin, they just said it was a Cowboy made in 2007, that is all. Here is what is unusual: Two serial numbers! Serial 93233999 and another number under the lever on the tang, 23759. It has a fully color case hardened bolt as well as the normally case colored receiver, lever and hammer...
