I'd think that since the US has a population that is somewhere around 13 times that of Australia, that the 15 attacks mentioned above put us pretty much right on track with the one from Australia. 13/1 vs 15/1 is a pretty close rate for this sort of thing.

I don't have a dissipator. One of the reasons is that I've read that tuning the gas can be difficult (on a true dissy). Have any of you had reliability issues regarding getting enough gas? Did you need to increase the gas port size?

To get a very low cost AR, you could pick up one of PSA's $300 rifle kits (free shipping and no sales tax as of today) and add that to your $50 lower ($30 purchase + $20 transfer fee). You could put together a low cost AR for $350 total.
