    Revolver "Cap Guards"

Saw these advertised--50 for 3.33. What they look like are cut lengths of 3/16" neoprene fuel line to slip over the caps to prevent cap jams. Anyone know anything about these?

S&W Bodygaurd, the best snubby ever?

Bodyguard. I would nominate the 442 aka "Centennial". Better lines, no hammer slot for stuff to get into, sleeker in and out of the pocket. No need for DA in those anyway. I suspect the sales numbers would bear me out.

    Chris Muir DBD Fund Drive

I see where the above strip (www.daybyday.com)is soliciting contributions. The only method to do this seems to be Paypal which I do not use. If Chris sees this, or anyone knows of a way to contact him or at least establish a mailing address, it would give some of us an alternative. I do...

Hillary Sings: "Meet Me In Montana"

Hillary has breathed in the pure clean air of Montana and her mind is clearer now. :) She is practically one of us now...:scrutiny: www.billingsgazette.net/articles/2008/05/31/news/state/21-handgun.txt

5 1/2" Adjustable Sighted Old Army Available?

Saw something that suggested that the Old Army may be available in this configuration. Always liked the idea. Anyone know if this is true? No info to that effect on Davidson's or Ruger's sites. Would appreciate any leads if so. Thanks.

    Olympic Arms Whitney Wolverine

Curious to know what peoples' experiences have been with the polymer framed, newly manufactured Olympic Arms Wolverine .22s. Bought one about six months ago for the heck of it (having missed out on the first ones due to extreme juvenile poverty). So far it has not lived up to expectations...

Current Status on .45 Colt Throats in New Vaqueros?

Just looked over a stainless NV .45 Colt today which was a very nice looking gun. My recent 50th anniversary .357 Flat Top is very well made and this seems at least as good if not better. In the past there has been some problem with undersized throats (.450) in this caliber and my NM...

    Jeff Cooper: Rest in Peace

Just got off the phone with the Gunsite office, checking out the rumors about the Colonel's condition posted elsewhere. As some know, he is now 86, has a bad back, is wheelchair bound and frail--and still mentally sharp. He was in the local hospital scheduled for surgery and had a "minor" heart...

Jard (or other) Trigger Kits for ARs

Am breaking in a Bushmaster carbine. The trigger is lawyer-sanctioned, running between 8 and 9 pounds with creep and not exactly a pleasure to use. I am from the "decent sights/decent trigger" school and thinking of installing a retrofit trigger kit to straighten this out. Brownell's has the...

    Black Powder Ruger Convertible .45

Finally got around to loading up some black powder loads for what has turned out to be one of my favorite plinkers--a NM .45 Convertible, blue, 4 5/8" barrel. Used the Lyman Keith 250 gr SWC sized to .454, home brew black powder lube, and 35 grains FFg. It shot cleanly, to the same point of...

Third Model Dragoon Ordered At Last

Just ordered a Uberti 3rd Model from an outfit called the History Store down in TX today--$289 plus UPS. Have long been fascinated by these big lunkers and decided that I really needed one. The local museum has a very rough Dragoon with good provenance to a feisty little Scotsman, Robert...

Short-Barrelled Ruger Old Army, ADJ Sights?

Just saw an article in the NRA "Shooting Illustrated" magazine for April 2006 by a Dick Williams, titled "Single Actions For Personal Defense" (or some such title). There were two photos of a stainless Old Army with what looked like the 5 1/2" shorter barrel AND ADJUSTABLE SIGHTS. Other than...

Volquartsen Drop-In Trigger Kit For Ruger .22 Autos

Just installed one of the above kits in a 1980s vintage Ruger Standard Auto. Brownell's catalogue claims that it will only fit the Mk II and 22/45 series, but as I suspected it installs in the older guns just fine. The gun is for my new daughter-in-law who wants her very own, and I think she...

    Sticker Shock

Speaking strictly for myself, the prices for decent handguns are getting up to where they're easy to walk away from these days. No doubt I'm a little spoiled, having bought my first Ruger .22 for $25 used in 1959; but Ruger's 2003 catalogue now lists it for $289. Best price in the area is $219...
