A question about the Ruger bearcat

Does anybody know why Ruger quit offering them with a .22 mag cylinder? Is there some mechanical/engineering reason? I can't imagine there is, given that NAA makes a mini in .22 mag. I'm thinking about buying one, but I really like having the option to use either .22 lr or .22 mag. And...

Out with the new and in with the old

I got tired of looking at a modern blue job on a gun that was basically designed almost 150 years ago. And we won't even talk about those "Uberti Red" grips. So, having seen what a few others around here have done, I broke out the vinegar, sand paper, and some steel wool. And...

    Adventures in bullet casting

As some of you may remember, I bought a copy of a Remington New Model Army here a couple of months back. It's one of the 5-1/2 inch barreled ones. I also asked my in-laws, who were coming to visit shortly, to deliver me the pertinent supplies to shoot the thing, since they have a cabela's near...

Lee Conical BP Revolver Bullet Mold

Anybody used one'a these? Conical Bullet Mold At .450 dia., I wonder if the bullets wouldn't be too small for an Uberti's chambers... But on the other hand, I'm thinking of using it to make paper cartridges, so the layer of paper might make for a snug fit. Or the paper could get shaved off...

Probably gonna order an Uberti 1858 Remington next Tues.

And so far, Buffalo Arms seems to have the best deal. Anybody here deal with them before? Anything I need to know? And... do you know of any place that sells the 5 1/2 inch Uberti 1858 copy for less than $253.29, but doesn't rip you a new one on shipping? Thanks in advance. J.C.

Cowboy...er...CowGIRL movies, and cap 'n ball revolvers...

Just watched the movie Bad Girls again the other night. ( Found the DVD at Walmart for less than $6. :D ) Not a bad movie, and plenty of the usual "cowboy" guns to be seen... plus Madeline Stowe, Andie MacDowell, Mary Stuart Masterson and Drew Barrymore skinny-dippin' and generally shooting up...

    Hyper-expensive gun parts...

I've got an older Browning Hi-Power that I've been entertaining the idea of putting together another top half for... One with dovetailed sights, the newer extractor, etc.... So with this in mind, I started browsing around for slides... Midway supply didn't have any, so I tried brownell's...

As if the media's constant use of the word "Arsenal" wasn't bad enough...

When our local news covered this story, just a few minutes ago, the kid's stash of weapons was a "mini-arsenal", according to them. But then again, I did see it on FOX news here in Tn, so I'm only mildly surprised. Most days, six weapons would be a full-blown arsenal, by their...

Interesting problem with an older High Power

I've got a Browning High Power that was made about 1964, according to the information I can find. It's got the old-style internal extractor, like a 1911. I'm a little puzzled because it has an interesting habit; about 50% of the time, or a little less, it will not eject the last round fired...

    My "New" Hi Power

Actually, it's an old Hi Power, and it's in better shape that my lousy photography skills can show you. The serial number is in the range that puts it being made about 1964 or so, I believe, at 117XXX. What do ya think? A shooter or not? J.C.
