Tennessee... the top, middle part.
And so far, Buffalo Arms seems to have the best deal.

Anybody here deal with them before? Anything I need to know?

And... do you know of any place that sells the 5 1/2 inch Uberti 1858 copy for less than $253.29, but doesn't rip you a new one on shipping?

Thanks in advance.

J.C.

Call them and see if they have the gun in stock, sometimes they are out and they hold the order until the shipment comes in. I ordered some things from them and one item was out of stock and they were going to hold the whole order till the one item came in. I tpold them to take that item off my list and send the things they had. they did and it came quick then.
I always call them first and I have given them my info over the phone and they shipped that day. But they have my info in their computer now, so it was easy. They are pretty good to deal with it they have the item in stock.

For a little better prices on Uberti Remmies ..you might look on GunBroker or GunsAmerica ....I bought a Uberti 5 1/2 color caseharden Remmie New in the box for 235 .00 a few months back off Gunbroker ...it`s sweet .

I ordered an 1858 Uberti because it's a brand new production, I owned one but I sold it, so, I want another.
Their shape is much more like the originals, as well as the OWA stamping on the left grip.:)

I looked at their website and and they have a good deal on the 1858 and a Kirst Konversion cylinder, under $400.00 FOR BOTH. At separate prices it is almost a $75.00 saving. If you have the money and are thinking of a cartridge conversion I would buy that combo.

Thanks for the information, folks.

Old Dragoon, I'm not very concerned about things not being in stock. All I'm ordering is a gun and a holster, and, since I've already waited almost a year... well, a little while longer won't bother me, if it's required. Once it's ordered, I know it'll get here, sooner or later.
Also, I really hate talking on the phone. People have a habit of making me wanna reach through it and strangle 'em. So, I'll take my chances with the internet, and hopefully keep my blood pressure at a semi-reasonable level ;) .

Sundance44s, I've hunted and poked around 'til I'm blue in the face. It's time to get that gun in here, and B.A. seems to have the best deal that I can find, once shipping and handling are figured in. Sure, I've found better deals on the gun, but what people want to charge to get it to me kind'a spoils the savings.
Plus, I like sticking with people I've at least heard of before.

Gaucho Gringo... Tell ya what; I'll order the $400 model with the spare cartridge cylinder if you'll come explain to my wife how a $200 gun suddenly cost $450 or so. :D ( I started out looking at the .36 cal Pietta that Cabela's sells. It's $199. Then I found the Uberti... and a holster. It went down hill from there. )

Anyway... there doesn't seem to be any unforeseen catastrophes waiting to happen with Buffalo Arms, so I guess I'll be ordering from them sometime tomorrow. I'll let y'all know how it goes.

Thanks again.

Judging by the prices of their other stuff, you might get lucky and be able to buy one gun with what you get from selling the 4 you have.

Update:

Well, that was a bust. :(

Turns out that the gun I want is out of stock, and nobody at Buffalo Arms has a clue as to when they'll get more in. Could be 2 weeks, could be 6 months, according to the fellow I talked to. ( I don't mind waiting, but I at least want an idea or educated guess on how long the wait might be. )

So I guess the search continues.

Alternative

I just bought a Pietta 1860 from Sportsmans Warehouse and it's a nice gun. They also carry the 1858's. Don't know about TN but here in OK they were very nice and easy to deal with. Nice price too.

Thanks Mec, but I found one. :D
Taylor's & Co. has them ( in stock ) for $254.00. ( Yes, I called before I pushed the button that said "order". )
I have one on the way.

It only took calling 4 different places to find one. The funny thing is, it's the place that's closest to me that actually had it. Go figure.

J.C.

you did good. taylor is a responsive company. Smart move, calling to make sure. The Colt Navies, Armies and Remington .44s are still pretty easy to find. Pocket models, Pocket police and Dragoons are trending more toward special order or 'out of stock'.

Like I said, I don't usually worry too much when I hear "out of stock"... 'cause there'll usually be more in within 30 days, tops.

But when people say "I dunno when we'll get more... The importer says anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months"... well, then I start makin' calls first.
And believe me, I do hate the telephone....

"I dunno when we'll get more... The importer says anywhere from 2 weeks to 6 months"... "

That's a particularly familiar refrain when dealing with Italian imports. There was a window of a couple of years when all the common replicas were readily available. Recently, such places as Midway USA have been listing more and more replicas as "special order." We are still better off than ever before as VTI gunparts and Cimarron have a readily available supply of spare parts for the colt and remington type replicas.

Jamie C,
Try S & S sales in Glendale N.Y.

http://www.ssfirearms.com/download catalog.htm

They have Euroarms and Uberti Pistols and parts.
Talk to Phil.
Phil is a good guy and will look at a pistol for you before it ships to check alignment and fit and finish is you ask him to.
I have emailed, called and just sent an order. If you call him he'll tell you whether he has any in stock. If you give them your Credit card info they'll try to ship same day if they can.

Hope this helps

Thanks, Old Dragoon, but like I told Mec, I've got one on the way. It's in Fed Ex's possession as I type this and should be here in a day or so.

I'll log S & S sales into my bookmarks however, 'cause I already know that one gun isn't gonna be enough, and there's more stuff I'll want as well.

Well, it's here...

Fed Ex delivered my new 1858 at about 11:00am. :D :D :D

And I can't find a single flaw in it. Fit and finish are excellent, and the timing is perfect, with the bolt dropping right before the cylinder notches, and everything locking up just as the hammer hits the rear of the notch in the frame.

Taylor & Co. gets high marks for this one.

I'll get some pictures up just as soon as I get the camera batteries recharged.

J.C.

Okay, the batteries in the camera are finally back up and running, so here's a quick pic.
That's the new gun, along with my old Stetson, a knife my father made, and my old badge from my days with the Sheriff's Office.

Now, as soon as I gather up some supplies and cast some balls, I'll get to shoot it...
( I've got about 50-60 pounds of lead that I've needed to do something with for more than 10 years now... I wonder how many .454 dia. balls that'll make? :D )

nice holster model

Jamie - you did good! Looks great and being a Uberti, the front site is dovetailed and can be drifted left or right to move point of aim - I like that about the Uberti's. If I buy another 58, it'll be a Uberti for that reason.

Not dissing Piettas thought, my Pietta is very nice and is the standard length barrel with adjustable sights and shoots great.

As an aside, I have a hat like that - same color and same quil band and sweat ring too :D

Looking forward to the range report!

Am I missing something here, Steve?

That was the main reason for choosing an Uberti... That, and being able to drift out the catch for the loading lever, so I can get the cylinder pin out, if needed.

I bought that Stetson 9 years ago, as a "divorce present" to myself.
The band is lizard, btw. And the sweat band comes from being on my head almost every day for the past 9 years, rain or shine. If I leave the house, then that hat is on my head.
Funny thing is, both the hat and my hair used to be a shade or two darker... :D
