60 pounds divided by 2954 bullets times 7000 grains per pound = 142 grains per bullet

Oh, okay... Makes sense now. ( I have no idea why I didn't catch what Steve was saying... It just didn't "click" for some reason. :eek: )

Only problem is, there's no telling how much lead I'll lose due to various reasons. Also, 60 pounds is a rough estimate. Might be 40... might be 80. Never weighed it.

There will be some net loss due to the doss dirt and grit ...even in clean lead ...I always get 200 / 44 cal balls out of 5 lbs of lead . so with me paying 1.30 a pound for my plumbers grade lead ..I figure I`m getting a box of balls ( 100) for around $ 3.50 a box ...compaired to the 8 to 10 dollars a box for store bought ..and if I add in the price of propane to melt the lead it cost 2 dollars worth to make the 200 balls ....a small tank of propane .
