    Long hunter knife

My interpretation of a long hunter knife. I made it out of an old gang saw blade and it has some pitting but I like the look of it and it's sharp enough to cut paper thin tomato slices. The blade is 11 inches long and 1 3/4 wide. The handle is elk antler and it's a handful but it feels good in...

    Powder measure

I wanted an antler powder measure to go with my new rifle. I was just going to buy one but those are expensive especially for the nice ones so I dug through my stash and found this. It wasn't my first choice but it's the only one that I thought would hold 90 grains without being 5-6 inches...

    Flintlock pan polishing.

As y'all well know I'm pretty much a novice when it comes to flintlocks. I've been doing a lot of reading and watching videos. Mostly trying to find out the do's and don'ts. I keep coming across people talking about polishing the pan. Some say it speeds up ignition. Others say it doesn't but it...

    Pan Primer

Until I can get a pan primer, if I can find one I like I made this. It's just a 300 WM case with a dowel stopper and the neck cut off of a 30-06 but it works.

    Kibler range report

Kinda/sorta. I only got three shots off before it started raining out of the blue. Range was 25 yards. Load was 90 grains of Swiss 3F with a patched .530 round ball. Patch was part of an old T shirt cut at the muzzle and lubed with olive oil. First shot was wide to the left. There was a slight...

I has a curiosity about Tung oil

Can you remove it and use Aqua Fortis/iron nitrate. If so how would you remove it? My Hawken has a figured maple stock and had Tung oil applied over bare wood. It's not a high grade stock but does have figure in it and the Tung oil just looks like a muddled finish until you see it up close. I...

    Kibler Kit

I've been saving what money I could for a few months and I just dropped the hammer on a Kibler Woodsrunner in .54 with a plain maple stock. Bree had the audacity to ask would it be alright if they shipped it out today. I just hope I don't screw it up. Me and wood aren't exactly friends.

    Powder Horn

I guess I'll be attempting to make a new one one of these days. These have been packed up for about a year and a half. The top one is still airtight but it's a little smaller than I like. The middle one is completely destroyed and the one on the bottom has holes in it but it could be patched.

    Faux Ivory Grips

Has anybody successfully stained them to look like aged ivory? I'm trying to stain mine with tea but it doesn't seem to be working.

    Cap jam

I witnessed a cap jam on my 51 navy today. My wife was shooting it loaded with Richmond Labs conicals. I have never had a cap jam with it. She fired three shots and said she couldn't cock the hammer. I looked at it and the hammer was frozen solid. I had to take the barrel and cylinder off to...

    My Hawken picture heavy

13 years ago I made a deal with a guy to build me a rifle. I used an Investarms Hawken for 30 years but it just wasn't a Hawken. I secured a set of blueprints from an original and this is what he came up with. It's a .54 caliber 1:66 twist. My only regret is I didn't go with...

    New Holster

I just got this new holster from Miguel Loco for my 51 RM. The pic doesn't do it justice. It's a beautiful holster and the workmanship is outstanding. Thanks again Mick.
