    Electronic hearing protection

+1 for the Sordin Supreme Pro X's. The wife and I have had them for years; very tough. I opted for the gel pads. They keep more sound out and are more comfortable IMHO but are hotter in summer.

    Who doesn’t own/like AR’s?

I love 'em. I should say we. My wife and I own 7 (I think, maybe more ;)) AR "style" rifles. We use them for hunting, service rifle and other competitions, general marksmanship training, shooting for fun and for self defense.* The rifles are incredibly durable, reliable, accurate and...

Called the Sheriff on some Road Hunters last night.

My wife and I have been "thrown off" her family's land numerous times by "hunters" who said they had exclusive permission to hunt from the landowner; that landowner being her father and my father-in-law. In response to being asked to leave by said trespassers with permission we've said "OH...

    Any 243 fans left?

Definitely a .243 fan here or I should say my wife is. She's taken many a varmint and deer with it. I'd hunt with her rifle but the stock was shortened to fit her and I don't deal with it very well. One of the things we've used over the years to calibrate our decisions for a hunting cartridge...

Can a quick release mount hold a zero after being taken off?

I didn't see this posted so please add to the list of mounts that return to zero: the Blaser Saddle mount. I have 2 scopes and 2 barrels for my Blaser R8 Kilombero and have attached and removed the scopes numerous times with return to zero. I remove the scopes for transport and storage. Each...

To buy or not to buy: Beretta M12 vs BM59 vs CX4

I bought a Beretta CX4 to go with my pair of Beretta 92FS's. It's a fun, accurate and light carbine. However, I was disappointed in the quality of some of the internal parts. So I upgraded the rifle as follows with the SierraPapa products as the alternative for me was to sell it. Steel Guide...

    Browning Auto 5

The Browning Auto 5 was my wife's wedding gift to me when we got married 36 years ago. So we had a shotgun wedding of sorts I guess. :) I have hunted duck, goose, squirrel, rabbit and deer with it for many years. It's still in like-new condition and I treasure it. I'll never part with it.

Cold weather hunting bibs and parka

I got the whole set made by Bolderton - dual parka, pants liner and outer shell. I found them very warm, well made and reasonably priced. https://guide.sportsmansguide.com/killer-layering-system/

    shooting rest

I use and have thoroughly enjoyed the shooting rests shown at https://targetshooting.com/. The rests I have are the MODEL 1000LP and the MODEL 1500 PISTOL REST. Both are extremely durable, allow for extremely fine adjustments and hold them very well. EDIT: I also have the Sinclair. It is also a...

Retirement: Shooting more, less, or the same as pre-retirement?

I've been shooting more due to having more time and having that time during the week when the range I use is much less crowded and sometimes completely deserted. I believe I've improved a bit too!

Any words for palmetto state armory?

Made many purchases from PSA with no problem.

I have done it wrong all of these years.

Well I'm doing it wrong too. I hunt in my M65 coat and blue jeans. I've taken more deer than you could shake a stick at. I look at the guys at hunting camp with their hats, boots, outfits, gun cases, slings, gunstocks all in matching camo and just shake my head. BTW, I have seen deer feeding on...

    When did you start?

I was 25 when I started hunting. I was the city boy who never held a firearm that married the farmer's daughter. It was her father that taught me to shoot and having grown up deer hunting with her older brother and dad it was SHE that got me into hunting. I later added competitive rifle and...

    Need info about Blasers

I have a Blaser R8 with .375 H&H and .300 Win Mag barrels. I absolutely love it. The scopes DO return to zero and the decocking safety is very convenient on a bolt action rifle.

A question of etiquette: "leave some for the next guy"

Nope. I'm buying on the dips and when ammo is available and probably paying a premium for it.

What is the most overpriced handgun in the market?

I like revolvers and I buy Freedom Arms revolvers because I think they are finely crafted, literally works of firearms art and worth the money. How does the Colt Python compare to Freedom Arms revolvers in terms of quality? If they are of equal quality, and I am not a gunsmith or someone capable...

    Higher end scopes.

I used to consider the best Leupold scopes "high end". That was until I bought Zeiss Victory scopes. What I could do with a 3-9x power Leupold I could do with a 1-6x power Zeiss. Their optics are unreal. I now consider the Leupold line to be mid-level. But, the Leupolds cost $500-$1000 whereas...
