    38 Special - 357 vs 38

Yea, you're screwed. :) A lot of us have been there. Just start buying and trying...it's the only way you are going to figure it out. After spending a good deal of dough and a number of years things will get clearer. Been there / done that and I'm still not sure if I would get a 38 or 357...

    38 Special - 357 vs 38

The 38 will be more consistently accurate compared to the 357 shooting 38 loads. This is my experience testing loads at 50 yards. A model 15 is great advice. 38 special is a wonderful and very, very accurate caliber.

Ruger GP-100 vs. Smith 586 and 686 both in .357 with 6 inch barrels.

I have only owned S&W revolvers. I would like to try a Ruger. I hear the security six can be worked over and have a better trigger than S&W. If you plan on shooting it then be sure to figure in a trigger job. That helps me a lot with DA accuracy. Speaking of accuracy... All these...

Ruger GP-100 vs. Smith 586 and 686 both in .357 with 6 inch barrels.

I shoot a lot and after a few thousand rounds my 7 shot and 8 shots S&W went out of timing. I heard from a reputable smith that the notches in the cylinder are not as deep as in the 6 shot versions. Im still happy with them but would consider a 6 shot for a high round range gun.

I wanted to sell some guns...but now I'm hoarding.

Prices are dropping! That is awesome news. Hopefully ammo prices will follow in the next few months or so. Later, Dave

I wanted to sell some guns...but now I'm hoarding.

Sweet. I should go ahead and sell my S&W 686. It just doesn't work for me...the balance or something. I have tried to like it and put a killer trigger job on it by Clark Custom, put new sights on it and changed the grips. I think I paid $300 and something back in the day. Probably put...

I wanted to sell some guns...but now I'm hoarding.

What's wrong with me? I have about 4 guns I wanted to sell that I never shoot, don't need, and would not miss that much. - West German Sig 226 (my first center fire purchased when I was 21) - S&W 686 - CZ Trainer .22 rifle - Ruger 22/45 with full Clark conversion. I would have...

Couple Questions on Winchester Model 70

Thanks for the info guys. I understand the trigger issue and appreciate the education. It does get cold in some places in Hawaii but I don't seek out those areas. I'd rather be at sea level...

Couple Questions on Winchester Model 70

Thanks for the info guys. How does the sporter style barrel do at the range. Can you get some practice in without it heating up too fast? Interesting on the weight of the trigger. Are good replacement triggers available for the Model 70? Maybe I should be looking at a different gun...

Couple Questions on Winchester Model 70

Hi, The new Model 70 Supergrade is one that keeps calling me. I read that the trigger is user adjustable down to 3 pounds. Can it be adjusted lower than that by a gunsmith? Is the barrel on the Supergrade thicker than Featherweight? Thanks a lot, Dave

Inexpensive case to ship 2 guns

Thanks for the info. Legality is good...check it out with my FFL...will go to him. To clarify, I was interested in a two gun case. But maybe a two single gun cases would be better. I'll look into the Brownells cardboard cases. Thanks, Dave

Inexpensive case to ship 2 guns

Hi, My dad is sending me a Model 70 and BAR to try out. We will ship via FedEx. Can you guys point me in the right direction for a good case for shipping the guns to prevent damage? Less money the better since the case will likely only be used twice...once to me...and back to him...

    Investing in guns

Citygroup was a great investment for me. I paid over $200 a share back in the 1990's and now it's worth $20 or $25. I'd say go for the gun if that's what you want to do. It can't do worse than some of the stocks I own. :banghead: Dave

    shooting=therapy

I think shooting is a meditation. “Meditation is any form of practices in which practitioners train their minds or self-induce a mode of consciousness to realize some benefit.” Focus thoughts, breathe, aim, steady, hold breath, slowly pull… It's about the only thing I do that...
