Hi,

My dad is sending me a Model 70 and BAR to try out. We will ship via FedEx. Can you guys point me in the right direction for a good case for shipping the guns to prevent damage?

Less money the better since the case will likely only be used twice...once to me...and back to him.

Thanks,
Dave

Honestly, I would not ship both in one case(unless it's one of the double sided ones). Just too much chance of contact within the case during transport. The other factor is oversize and high density(2 rifles in a double case is heavy) charges. I've shipped rifles in cardboard(with packing) boxes like those Brownells sells w/o any damage.
I question why the case will only be use twice. You don't intend to transport them uncased, do you??
The other question is legality of this "transfer".

Thanks for the info.

Legality is good...check it out with my FFL...will go to him.

To clarify, I was interested in a two gun case. But maybe a two single gun cases would be better. I'll look into the Brownells cardboard cases.
Thanks,
Dave

I would also suggest cardboard packing, with no identifiable markings and lotsa bubble wrap. Ive shipped stuff OUT from here packed like that with no issues, but pretty much all the rifles ive had brought in were still in their factory boxes. I also like USPS, cost is lower and honestly ive had less issues with them (i worked shipping, receiving, and dispatch for a rather large flower distributor).

Considering how many packages get damaged by UPS and FedEx, I would strongly suggest the BEST gun case you can get, not the cheapest.

Pelican makes a variety of cases. Check out their website and then go to Amazon and type in the product make and model number.
Free shipping usually.
I have three Pelican products. No complaints.
They are good for long term storage, are waterproof, and lockable too.

I would definitely ship the guns individually unless you spent wy to much money on a case the guns will likely collide as shippers do not treak heavy packages well. I have double cases I take to the range on the guns can touch in some of my dubles just from carrying.
