Maybe this is a dumb question, but can you store multiple bolts in a bolt bag? Or is the idea to store them separately so they don’t scratch each other?
I always think it’s best to sight in your rifle yourself, but is it ok to ask a friend to do it? If someone asked me, I’d be cool with it. But it also could be a patronizing thing to do, like asking them to wax your car.
My wife wants to see the country and I thought hmm... maybe an elk hunt opportunity. If you were looking for good elk hunting territory near a national park, where would you start? Arizona/New Mexico or Colorado/Wyoming?
Some countries have a single criminal code so there is no conflict between the state and federal laws. If this were the case in the US, would there be fewer instances of different codes creating questions about what is legal, not legal, etc?
I was thinking about was rifle is best to get behind for target practice to just shoot and chill out. Not the 22, since the range isn't far enough, and probably no big calibers since I don't like getting punched in the shoulder. Maybe a 22-250?
I have a backyard range in an agricultural area. Since the bullets splatter when they hit the target, I am wondering how much shooting you would need to do before you started to contaminate the ground around the target. Any info on this?
If you go out west and kill an elk, what do you do about bringing the meat back? Is it legal to bring harvested meat across state lines? What about keeping it frozen?
There are lots of luxury lodges for hunting large game. What about a lodge for varmint hunters? Every day you could go out and burn up a barrel on a prairie dog town and then come back and watch video of your 400 yard kills.
I got this rifle with the iron sights but would prefer to keep my forehead intact. Any suggestions on scopes with long eye relief and wide field of view? I find the cheek alignment is just about right for the irons, so probably "lower is better" for the height of the scope. This rifle will...
I am thinking of building an antler knife but am wondering how close you can get to the fit of a wood or composite handle. I would probably not shape the antler too much so as to keep it natural. Any thoughts?
Can I shoot the same weight copper or lead bullets in a .243 and get (almost) the same point of impact under 300 yards? I was thinking of using lead ammo for practice and copper for hunting.
As far as being authentic on a rifle is concerned, does it make a difference whether a rifle from the 1950s has a modern scope on it? What type of modifications are considered permissible by the deans of rifle style? What would be a flagrant modification violation?
Is getting a deer on opening day reserved for people who research the deer year round? I know a lot of people pattern them so well the shot is just a formality. Is an opening day hunt likely to be any more successful than the rest of the season, given that the deer aren't spooked yet?
If the world switches to plastic ammo from brass, will that mean more plastic junk on ranges and in the woods? I get annoyed when people leave behind spent shotgun shells in the fields. If centerfire goes this way would mean cheaper ammo, but a lot more crap to deal with.
I have a small collection of rifles (less than 10) and want to get a safe that even a smart 7-year old will not be able to get into. Any recommendations?
