AR guys: how important is a rattling gas tube?

I'd rather have it rattle than to be too big. I just encountered a no-go fit using a Melonited gas tube and Melonited gas key. Apparently the tolerance stack was too great. A replacement stainless gas tube solved my problem.

    H&K P30, input needed

I really, really, really wanted to like the P30L I purchased. In short, the damn thumb safety sits too far back on the frame. It really rubs the web of my hand the wrong way. Take a close look at that detail, and/or consider getting a model with the LEM trigger (no thumb safety)

Member Needing Guidance On My Next Long Range Rifle

I would also echo some above comments regarding excessive recoil and powder usage. My long-range experience started with a 7mmRM. Six months into it I had an empty wallet and a new bad habit (flinching). My 6.5x47 Lapua was the best decision I made. It is much, much more pleasant shooting...

Stoeger Uplander 20 ga - Both barrels firing! Help!

I thought about that, and at the risk of sounding like an idiot, I have a question; My "shotgun expert" tells me that the barrel position switch on the receiver must be moved to either the left or the right to get each barrel to fire. I always thought the barrel position switch simply...

Stoeger Uplander 20 ga - Both barrels firing! Help!

Anyone know why my Stoeger Uplander Supreme side by side 20 gauge is firing both barrels? It seems to do it only when my wife shoots it, at least so far. It is the single trigger model. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

FN PS90: made in woodsheds by drunken monkeys ?

PS90 - not impressed +1 Not impressed with the samples I held either. Ugly cast marks on the steel and significant flashing on the seams of the plastic. Honestly, it looked reminded me of the zinc alloy cap guns I played with as a kid. It is obvious FN crams as many of them down their...

Question on Ruger bolt action rimfire rifles

I'd like to know how the barrel attaches to the action on Ruger's bolt action rimfire rifles? Do they use a V-block design similar to the 10/22 model, or is the receiver tapped for a threaded barrel? Thank you

    CZ vs Sig

blah, blah, blah, yada, yada, yada I admit, I only skimmed these four pages, but it seems you guys missed one significant point; 1. Yes, there are a few exceptions, but in general Sigs have aluminum frames, and CZs have steel frames. This is significant because the fact of the matter is; all...

What did Springfield do to their Operator?

While browsing their website to drool over the TPR Operator I plan on purchasing soon, I noticed they updated the picture. The TRP Operator now has a short accessory rail just like their other railed guns. Does anyone know what the the story is behind this? Did they discontinue their full...

    AR question

Doin' the math Barrel diameter is a mathematical function of barrel stiffness, and it cannot be denied that a stiffer barrel will shoot more accurately than a limp barrel, all other factors being equal. The Hbar's larger diameter offers an accuracy advantage over the standard or M4 diameter...

    AR question

In defense of Hbars Daniel Lija on barrel diameter; "While there are a number of factors that determine the accuracy of a rifle barrel, one of the more critical elements is its stiffness or rigidity. Obviously the larger in diameter a barrel is, the stiffer it will be."...

    Browning A-bolt actions?

Anybody know where I can get a Browning A-bolt magnum action? I'm trying to build a custom rifle and would like to use an A-bolt action. Browning says they won't see me just an action. Do I have any other choices besides lurking for a used complete rifle?

Broke the scope - in half!

My buddy is shooting an old H&R 20 gauge with a muzzle loader barrel. So far, he's been through two scopes in less than 50 rounds. The first one was a 3-9X Bushnell. The internals broke and the scope won't hold a zero. The second one was a 3-9X Weaver. This one literally broke in half...

    Full profile compensators on 1911s

I'm looking for a full profile comp for my Springfield 1911. I spoke with TJ's Custom and EGW who both advertise full profiles. Unfortunately TJ is out of the question as the $1000 price tag is more than I can afford. EGW however gave me a confusing answer. They told me they would not...
