I just built this rifle and am concerned about the tang binding with the stock. Is is possible to use cardboard to space up the action such that the tang doesn't bind? Also, can you give me some insight on how to correct this in a more permanent fashion. I'm assuming bedding the action would...
MY FIRST BUILD
I've been on this site a couple years now and have finally gathered the components to tackle my first build with. As I've looked at other build threads I have learned quite a bit and I want this thread to do the same for the next person. I intend to ask all my questions...
I've been using Strelok for about a year now with my Stevens Model 200 in 308 Winchester. I handload 175 SMKs over 43.5 grains of IMR-4064 and had roughly estimated based on data from my reloading manual that the muzzle velocity was around 2625 FPS. The ballistic calculator really impressed me...
I have a Vortex Viper HST (30mm tube) that I'm going to mount on a stock Stevens 200 rifle. My future plans are to move this optic to a Savage 12LRP in 260 Rem. I want to buy rings that will work for the future plans. I'm leaning towards the Burris Signature Zee rings, but wanted to see if I...
Just caught first wind of this a little while ago.... Interested in others opinions...

I finally ponied up and took my first defensive handgun class yesterday. I've been shooting for several years and carrying concealed for about a year and wanted to step my training up to the next level. In my area its not easy to find this kind of training locally so I'm thankful that Phillip...
Just starting loading using IMR-4064 under 175 gr. SMK's...
*I loaded 5 shots each at half grain increments starting at 40.5 and going up to 42.5.
*I shot these round robin style as not to be partial to any one particular load and no cleaning was done of the bore during the test.
*I had...
I'm trying to measure OAL to the lands with 2 different projectiles just for the sake of knowing more and recording more information regarding my handloads. I don't have the fancy equipment required so I have resized and trimmed a case to trim length and have slit the case neck as shown in the...
Getting into some medium range shooting and trying to decide on caliber. I'm going with either a Savage 12LRP in 6.5 Creedmoor or a Savage 10FCP in 308 Win. I reload for 308 already and was really not wanting to add another caliber, but the Savage 12 LRP does not come in 308.
In regards...
I enjoy shooting steel targets. I am in the process of starting to stretch out my 308 and get into some midrange shooting (300-500 yards). Ultimately I want to go farther out than that. I need help deciding what AR500 steel target to start with. I see the IPSC targets in varying sizes (50%...
I am reloading some Hornady 90 grain XTP's using Unique for a 380.
The seating depth in the Lymans manual I have is so deep that the case mouth starts to come up past the vertical sidewall of the projectile.
I went to a longer seating depth of .975 and could not get the slide to cycle...
I built this bench from Horst & McCann website. It turned out pretty good although I've yet to shoot from it. I will say that it is very solid and does not move. I used 6X6 post like the plan called for and I'm glad I did.. I did not build it to bury in the ground like the plans call for...
I am looking an alternative to my IWB holster that I can keep in my truck for quick on and off situations like running into a store or whatever. I use the IWB holster when I know I'm gonna carry all day long, but I live and work on the farm and I don't need to carry IWB all day everyday...
My local television news stations cover at least 2-5 different shootings every night. I think that there are more shootings occurring today than say 10 years ago, however I think the news is really focusing on the ones today making it seem more prevalent.. I've got to where I don't even watch...
My LGS has some powder and although its some powder I can use, its not always exactly what I want... The online suppliers are out of everything for the most part and if some does show up its gone in seconds... Obviously demand is up but I'm looking for further reasoning behind the powder...
I have been using the little Lee trimmer that you pull the cord to spin because it was cheap and got me started. Now that I've destroyed it I need to move up to something better. I shoot two rifle calibers (308 and 223) and I really like the WFT trimmer but obviously I'd need to buy two...
I was shooting some of my reloads in 40 S&W today with my brother. We were taking turns shooting through 2 different pistols. Upon approaching the targets I noticed this bullet on the ground. I immediately noticed the marks of the rifling in the barrel so I know it went through one of the two...
Quick question on bullet seating depth on 223...
55 Grain FMJ-BT with cannelure
mixed headstamp brass
25 grains of H335
My brass measures out at 1.75" after trimming.. Lyman manual says 1.76"
When I seat these bullets to an OAL length of 2.260" then cannelure never reaches the case...
This is my first AR build and I really want to just buy a complete lower and then a complete upper and slap them together and begin learning about the parts and pieces that way.
I am going to get this lower...
