    Trash Talk During Competition

Two new shooters have joined my IDPA club. During shooting competition these two members shout disparaging comments at the shooters. The club officers have not addressed this behavior. Has anyone experienced this at shooting events?

    Shooting with Jerry Miculek

This past week-end I had the pleasure of competing with Jerry Miculek. Our club held a 3-Gun competition and Jerry participated. Normally we only get local shooters, but Jerry is a friend of Benny Hill, and Benny is a friend of one of our club members, so they both came down from Corpus...

    Home Visit By the ATF

When I arrived home from work today, my wife informed me that a representative from the BATF called on our home this afternoon. He hand delivered a letter to her that was addressed to me. He told her that he knew I have guns because I have a C & R license. He also told her not to be concerned...

    Bullet sparks

Having just watched a movie trailer showing bullet strikes sparking on metal, I was wondering if it is possible for a bullet to create a spark when it strikes an object? I've seen ten of thousands of bullets fired, and have yet to see one spark. Is this just another example of Hollywood...

    Discovered New Website

While surfing today, I came across this new website: http://www.gunreports.com/. IMHO, it is a good website and I wanted to share it with others. Check it out. BTW, I have no finanacial interest in this site; I just wanted to inform others of its existence.

    Firearm Advertising on Network TV

Other than on the Outdoor Channel, advertising for firearms is not done. Advertising in local markets that feature gun sales is common. So why are there no national ads for firearms and related items?

    What happened to IDSA?

I was reading reading a gun magazine from 2006 that mentioned tactical competition using the "Paladin Scoring System" in IDSA; International Defensive Shooting Association. I've been shooting IDPA for a few years, and never heard of IDSA. I found their web site (hasn't been updated in over...

    Gun Related Car Names

The other day I was behind a Dodge Caliber, and began to think of other car names that are gun related. I thought of two more Dodges; the Colt and the Magnum. Can you think of others?

    Ironic Observation

I'm visiting family in CA., and noticed that gun cleaning supplies are carried in every grocery store and drug store I've been in. I've never seen that in Texas. Just something to think about.

VT - Delay in receiving medical treatment

I have yet to see a timeline that shows how long the police waited to enter the VT building after the shooting started. I wonder what percent of the victims bled to death before receiving treatment.

    VT Shooter Kill Ratio

At first glance, it appears that the VT shooter had a very high kill ratio; especially considering he was using a 9mm and a 22. I just read an article about a marine in Faluja who was hit 7 times with 7.62 rounds and protected a buddy from an exploding grenade and was hit by 40 fragments. He...

    Untrained Airline Staff

Today I flew for the first time with my handgun. I've downloaded pages of info, so I felt I was prepared. At the check-in counter I declared my firearm and the clerk directed me to the TSA agent. That's not what I expected, but I went anyway. At the TSA table I declared my gun and opened the...

    Dan Wesson at pawn shop

A local pawn shop has a Dan Wesson .357 for sale. The asking price is $400. The gun is in excellent condition. The bluing is perfect. The gun has an 8" HV barrel shroud. This is a Monson manufactured gun. The gun is being sold without any accessories. The price seems fair, but I wanted...

No More Guns at Brownsville Wal-Marts

Went to Wal-Mart tonight and decided to check-out the ammo prices. To my dismay, both gun cases were empty. The manager told me the corporate story is that gun sales are slow, but the real story is they are crumbling under PC pressure. This was the last Wal-Mart in town to carry firearms...

    Beer at Gun Club
