Or whatever you said.....Leatherwood is not out yet....so if i bought one i would be put on a mailing list or something? I found a Smith Enterprize for 120 are they any good?
Welll.....
Leapers i have heard have gotten better over the years and the John Masen mounts are reworked designs to be better, heaiver grade steel. ARMS #18 is tooo rich for my blood i am sorry. The Western Magazine mount is on Sportmansguide.com for about 75 bucks and i couldn't even find a...
Anybody ever hear of a M14 mount made by Western Magazine? I found one for 75 bucks but i have never heard nor can i find anything about Western Magazine so i don't know if it is a good mount or not? Also is a leapers mount good or the mount made by the John Masen Co?
Rem 700
I don't know about you guys but a fluted, free float, and glassed Remy 700 with a 960 dollar bushnell scope and 100 a piece swiss rings.........850 yards..dead on.
The M1 was....
Developed for personal defense like some of you said but it was for non-combat personal who were stationed in dangerous areas and for officers. but as the war went on it kinda became like the thompson. Not officially handed out but people just had them. Battlefield pick-ups they...
To rich for my blood
That thing costs more than my scope. to much for a bunch of metal pieces. I think i will go with the leapers two thumbscrew one:banghead:
Bolt Actions vs Semi-Autos
Modern military sniper rifles have been leaning more on the semi-auto side but precision tuned rifles i believe are still bolt action. what makes a good rifle into a "can knock the cherry off the tip of a cancer stick at 600 yards" rifle is precision tuning like free...
Everything you need to know

What is the best choice for sniper rifles? I think bolt actions are the best because if the weapon is good then it puts all failure to hit a target on the shooter not the weapon. With semi-auto's a slight amount of gas is diverted in order to push the bolt back. With a bolt action all the gas is...
oh another qestion
how hard is it to take out the bolt group when cleaning the rifle with a scope mount on it? Since the bolt has to slid up and out the top it seems it would be very hard to do that with a mount in your way.
Metric BS?
My polytech didn't come with a milled out muzzle surpresser so i had to do that myself and i am thinking of getting a black synth stock for it because the metal is a dark gray parkerized steel. Which would look nice with a black stock and scope. I am just worried that since mine is...
Hmm all good but one last question well two really
Thank you all for the info but i am just worried about it fitting on because it said the b-square mounts would not fit polytechs due to a difference in metric standard so i am wondering if the other mounts would have the same problems?
Also...
I got a polytech M14s recently and i am scoping it out with a Leapers 5th Gen 6-24X50 green/red illumy mil-dot scope but i haven't picked out the mount get because i am confused. There seem to be only two mounts available for the m14 and one of them wont fit on a polytech M14 because it was made...
