Got tired of the 1050's primer catcher and the 223/5.56 brass cutoff quick mod as large primers would get stuck on its mouth causing issues, so here is what I have as a solution. Anyone else have a similar solution?
Here is a little something that I came up with to remove/install the Dillon 650's primer assembly. Anyone else have troubles with the placement and access to this priming assembly?
This is the key reason(prob the only one) why I do clean pockets either by hand or now with the SS wet tumble. Case inspection. Especially if you are buying once fired and/or picking up free range brass. I've found some gnarly pockets over the years under the crud, would they have been ok to...
Searched around their sight and read a few items on oil vs primers and SS media cleaning. Good link!
I started cleaning using the SS wet method due to allergic reaction to copper and the dry method would cause the fine amounts of copper to become airborne and bother me. I still dry tumble...
Has anyone had issues of primers not seating due to dirty primer pockets?
Pros/cons?
Is it "proper" to clean them or is it just for "bench rest shooter" type accuracy and precision loads?
Just curious to see what people think in "general". This may have been covered before...
Nothing beats wet tumble with SS pins/dawn/lemishine. Size and trim brass then wash to clean primer pockets and remove any lube used. Letting hundreds of cases dry beats having to handle each piece of brass to "properly" clean primer pockets. Which everyone needs to ask themselves if they should...
Because of the torsion on the shell plate it is best as others have stated to process brass/rounds in "steps". Also on any brand of progressive it is best to position the Swage and seating die OPPOSITE ( or equal distances left/right of the ram) of each other to help "balance" so to speak the...
I make metal brackets out of 1/2" plate and cut and weld C clamps for all my equipment that needs to be fastened. My bench is Stainless Steel wrapped so I don't want to drill any permanent holes either. The brackets also allow me to move things around as I need depending on what I am doing.
There is a chance you may NOT like it and only use a few ounces to a pound of the 8#s. Many people like it and haven't read much "negative" about it. Meters well. Even if you buy 8#s and don't like it AS much you can still use it for plinking or sell it to a buddy, $150 isn't bad for a keg. It...
Have not used Blue Dot in my 10mm as I have read it is flashy as all get out....if shot during the day it shouldn't be an issue but at night might make you see a solar eclipse between shots :fire::eek:
I personally have always referenced back to Nosler(also shows 25grs of H335 under a 55 grain pill being the most accurate) for various calibers including 223/5.56, free load data on their site too, whether I am loading nosler/hornady/sierra/speer/surplus projectiles. Nosler seems to pretty spot...
I know you don't have this powder BUT feel it worth mentioning ..... the best powder for the 147 pills in a 9mm Luger is Viht 3N38, haven't found a powder to really match with this combo. A little pricey compared to other powders but it performs extremely well. Vihtavuori load data shows 6.9gr...
If you have to "question" if you should or shouldn't shoot them, you shouldn't. Might suck because of all the effort you put into the rounds already, BUT it "could" suck worse if you shoot them. Bullet pulling, salvaging the powder, resizing without the decap pin(should be easy to apply a light...
