    Shipping a handgun to France

It may be possible, but I have no idea what is the daily rate and how long they allow packages to be stored in their facilities. I am still working on it (again, many thanks @unspellable).

    Shipping a handgun to France

Thanks Doc, My dealer does not import guns, but I will contact French firearms importers, that is a great idea I hadn't thought about. I doubt the embassy would be of any help on this matter, but I appreciate the link to the freight forwarders. I have a couple phone calls to make. Thanks again.

    Shipping a handgun to France

I am a French citizen and bullseye shooter. I have been working and shooting in the US for several years and it will soon be time for me to go back home. I would like to ship a couple handguns. I have all the legal authorizations required on the French side. My guns have to be shipped to a...

.38 SPL accuracy load for a .357 magnum Colt SAA

I did just that a few weeks ago, and it turned into quite an adventure! After running my HiTek lead bullets through the cylinder throats (see this post https://www.thehighroad.org/index.php?threads/38-spl-accuracy-load-for-a-357-magnum-colt-saa.861445/#post-11354154), I inserted one of those...

.38 SPL accuracy load for a .357 magnum Colt SAA

I ran a new series of tests with factory ammo and a friend's reloads. I will test some reloads based on Bullseye and Federal primers next weekend.

.38 SPL accuracy load for a .357 magnum Colt SAA

Here are my reloads, .357Magnum brass : I'd say those are "mildly" crimped. The crimp is noticeable but does not bite the bullet. I only loaded 20 rounds of each variant for my testing session and shot all of it. I usually measure bullet speed only with validated recipes to evaluate...

.38 SPL accuracy load for a .357 magnum Colt SAA

Here are the results of my testing session. 10 rounds were fired at each target from a sandbag at 25 yds. Point of aim is the is 2in diameter orange dot. This is pretty clear: my Colt despises weakness and doesn't care for .38SPL. If I try to feed it anything else than full power .357Magnum, it...

.38 SPL accuracy load for a .357 magnum Colt SAA

Thank you, I didn't really know if those information meant anything. I'll just stick to those bullets.

.38 SPL accuracy load for a .357 magnum Colt SAA

I don't have another .38 and I won't ask another shooter his gun to test my reloads. Yesterday, I cleaned my revolver thoroughly, measured all throats with a vernier caliper for what it's worth, all .360". I dropped a .358 HiTek LSWC through each throat. It stuck inside the throat, and required...

.38 SPL accuracy load for a .357 magnum Colt SAA

Also, I noticed an unusual amount of unburnt flakes on my mat. I have both, and I will do just that. I also have other powders to experiment with. I'll keep you updated with my results. I have some handloading to do now !

.38 SPL accuracy load for a .357 magnum Colt SAA

I just took a look at the rounds I shot today. Most display a soot ring near the mouth, with a smudge. Some are really clean :

.38 SPL accuracy load for a .357 magnum Colt SAA

There's something interesting there. Among those widely spread out impacts I'm confronted with, groups of 2 or 3 were connected. That dumbfounded me until I read your answer. I'm shooting 13 brinell HT-SWC. My charge may just be on the verge of "decent".

.38 SPL accuracy load for a .357 magnum Colt SAA

Thought so and I expected box of 180gr XTP to be delivered today, unfortunately those are still on the way tonight. Interesting article Mr.Flintstone, thanks for sharing.Obviously I need to get me some 125 gr too. Yet, bullet weight effects case volume, so also pressure development, then...

.38 SPL accuracy load for a .357 magnum Colt SAA

If in the end it is merely a question of velocity, I'll try lighter bullets. I'll come back here after I've run my tests. Thank you both.

.38 SPL accuracy load for a .357 magnum Colt SAA

I have difficulties developing a .38 SPL accuracy load for a .357 magnum Colt SAA 7 1/2". My ingredients are new Starline brass, CCI Small Pistol #500 primers, HP-38 and 158 gr Hi-Tek coated LSWC. I experimented over the whole range of powder amounts from 3.1 to 3.7 grains according to Hogdon...

    .41 magnum starting point

I also have a couple hundred JHP for full power loads. I'll get me a Lyman manual and work out a good mid-range load first.

    .41 magnum starting point

I would have chosen to go with 2400 if there had been a little more data on Alliant's website. I don't know where to start and stop, and where it'll get me with the bullets I chose. So I'll buy 1lb AA#9, load in the 1200-1400fps range and see how I like it. Thanks for your help gentlemen !
