After about 300 rounds through an Uberti 1873 cattleman I had a problem with the cylinder not locking up. Everything looked fine, bolt and bolt trigger spring, until I was able to easily break the bolt spring in half with my my old fingers.
Hunted for a replacement and ended up with a wolf wire...
Yesterday I picked up a Taylor/Uberti 1873 Cattleman New Model. I have been fascinated with the history and it's single action. The last one I held was in the 1950's silver and chambered in roll caps.
After cleaning up the shipping oil and working the action (not dry firing) I noticed what I...
Based on news reports I've listened to for the last few years, including current events, could someone with more knowledge than I please explain what a “long gun” is.
At first I wrote it off as just another scarier word than rifle but though it referred to the 5ft. black power weapons from the...
Just took a NIB Glock 17 gen 4 to the range. This is my first gen 4 but I have 4 Glock's. That does not make me an expert.
Before I left I changed to connector to a 3.5lb which I had and grabbed 200 of my reloads. I have never had any problems with my reloads with any glock I own (G21-G30-G26)...
I have an old S&W .38spl Mod 36 j-frame 2 1/2in bbl acquired in the early 1970's. After a 40 year "torture test" including over-charged reloads from before I knew better, this old friend is in need of a yoke assembly screw.
I have ordered several screws from schematics and all have been...
I have an old Ithaca 37 acquired in the '70's. I was regrettably, severely "customized".
I am now replacing the stock and looking into a sling swivel for the forend. I can find swivel posts that screw into the "barrel tang". Is that the yoke that holds the feeder tube to the barrel?
If not...
Picked up a few hundred .45 brass a few days ago. All was head-stamped FEDERAL .45 AUTO. Eventually I realized the primers were not crimped but small pistol primers. I might live under a rock but I've only seen that with .45 GAP.
I don't want to just waste the brass but would like to know it...
Recently bought a Kimber Ultra Crimson II. Kimber suggests 400-500 round break-in.
After 1800 rounds it suggests replacing the recoil spring. They do not say if they mean the outer, larger spring, both springs or the entire assembly. I'm thinking just the outer spring but not sure.
The outer...
New to this forum... more questions than answers.
I've been getting lead bullets from MBC for quite a while, exceptional quality and price. The only one with a problem would be my mail carrier but I try to help.
My last order was for 2k of their Hi-Tech bullets and they seem great and worth...
I've been reloading since the 70's (took a break for about 20 years). Hard to just buy whatever powder (handgun) you want so I have to make due with what I can find.
Can't always find an acceptable recipe in my current book (Lyman about 5 years old) so I'll look back to my 1972 Hornaday book...
