Which red dot reflex for a 44 mag?

A526051.............Glad to hear you didn't have any problems with the Vortex Venom on your 629! I used to have a 629 years ago, but sold it to buy cowboy guns when I got into cowboy action shooting. Steve in...

Which red dot reflex for a 44 mag?

Thanks for the replies guys! I don't think so either, otherwise info would be easier to find. The models you listed all look like good choices, and I believe I'm still going with the Vortex. That's a good idea. Funny, never even thought of it.

Which red dot reflex for a 44 mag?

I want to mount a red dot reflex sight to my Jack Weigand base on a Super Blackhawk 44 magnum. The base limits the weight of the sight to 3.5 oz. Does anybody out there have one that's held up to a 44 mag? I've researched a lot of models but none of them say words to the effect of "This is the...

New Background Check Policy at Walmart

I wish it was only 5 or 10 minutes in Wisconsin. We get the NICS check for every gun purchase, and the typical response I get is "I'm sorry sir, there's been a delay." Then I go home and wait for the store to call to tell me I've been approved. A week goes by. If after a week there's been no...

What gun disappointed you the most?

Marlin 39A bought sometime around 2010. Would constantly fail to feed, fail to fire, and fail to eject. Couldn't wait to get rid of it. A couple of years later I bought one made in the 1950's and it works fine.

Question about rifles in Cowboy Action

The 1894 Marlin can be used in every category except Classic Cowboy. Classic Cowboy requires an 1873 or earlier rifle chambered in .40 caliber or larger. The Marlin is also a good choice for the black powder categories because they are easy to disassemble for cleaning the action. One screw...

    Walker repro. cylinder issues

Here's a link to a discussion on tapered chambers in my Walker. Since that time, I've shot a couple hundred rounds out of it and haven't had a problem with the ball creeping forward. I've been using .451 balls and 40 grains of black powder. However, I do occasionally have a problem with the...

    Lucas Oil or SBGO

Since we're in the black powder section, I'm assuming he's looking for an alternative to ballistol to be used with black powder guns. I use this: https://www.mscdirect.com/product/details/00269233 It works great for me. Dilute it for cleaning, or use it full strength to oil the bore till you...

learning to shoot with non dominant hand

To get more dexterity in your left hand, you need to do things you wouldn't normally do with your left hand. Start with using your fork/spoon only with your left hand. Use your computer mouse only with your left hand. It will seem totally awkward at first, but will become easier in time. That...

Uberti Cattleman - Can't cock hammer

I had the same problem once. The firing pin hole was cratered in the recoil shield. The fired primers would back out into the "crater" and prevent the hammer from cocking.

    What is a 6.5 x 55 Swedish Mauser worth ?

I wish I could have paid $135. I paid $400 for mine a couple years ago to use for vintage military shooting matches and felt it was a good price. Seems like prices are still in the same ballpark. An "all matching" rifle will be worth more to a collector, while an excellent bore will be worth...

Woo Hoo! Gun collection is now complete.

Thanks! Yeah.....half the fun is the "chase" and the research. And now my wife gives me a good "eye roll" when I pause the TV to point out the guns being used (i.e. incorrect guns in westerns, etc., etc.)
