Greetings Gentlemen,
Help with load data for a Speer semi spitzer 70gr bullet
Del-ton 5.56 16" barrel, 1 in 9 twist
Weatherby .223 24" barrel, 1 in 12 twist
1. Will the Weatherby stabilize this bullet. I believe it will if I can get the velocity up?
2. Load data- powders at my disposal
a...
Can one use CCI #41 military primers in standard rifles like a Weatherby Vanguard .223.I know developed load would need tweaking, but when where would I find the data to begin adjustment. I looked on Hodgdon website with no luck. I have developed loads using IMR 8208xbr with a 40 grain v-max and...

Greetings
Does anyone know anything about triggers associated with a Mauser Model 4000?I know Heym made the action and barrels for Mauser and I know the model 4000's are short action in .222 and .223. I have spoke with Heym without any luck; as well as, Timney and Rifle Basix for possibilities...
I agree there should be closer uniformity; however, I had to get used to the FFP scope because it changed my reticle size. This is the first scope in FFP so there is a margin of familiarity. When I spend long days at the range I used to use clear safety glasses with the left eye blacked out to...
Well I put a new Vortex Viper 6-24x50 ffp on my rifle. sighted in shot some groups with somewhat ambiguous results. The 34.4 that shot so well last time made a .800 vericle string. I will say it was 15 degrees warmer and 7-15 wind. I did compare the two like you asked and they both shot the...
I cannot absolutely make a confirmation as of yet. I have done work on the trigger, which in and of itself will make the rifle perform better than it did when I first shot the factory ammo test. The pull at that time was at least 5# and all my other rifle's or I guess I should say my other rifle...
All loads 55 grain Nosler Varmageddon, GMM 210 LR primer, Hornady brass, COL 2.352... brass is new; albeit has been FL resized and trimmed to length before first loading. I will do a 5 shot load confirmation of RL 15, 34.4 and share.
Yes I will keep you up to date as I walk through the load developement. First up, Reloader 15 and H380. I know the 380 is ball powder and subject to temp variations more than modern powders;however, I believe it is worth a try from all that I have read. I live in the mountains of NC so it does...
Thanks Horsey,
I will have to play with this for a while until it becomes more familiar. Thanks you have been a great help! My apologies for the tardy return correspondence, but Sundays are quite busy for me. Thank you for taking time to help me grow in the knowledge of reloading and bullet...
I have not tried JBM stability calculator, but I will thanks. Could you explain what you mean by, "1.6 at 50-70 degrees and get .5 or better..." thanks
You know what I dont understand is I asked Hornady about the 53 grain v max and he told me that bullet will not stabilize in a 14 twist. Then he went on to suggest the 55 grain. I do not know why the 53 will not stabilize and the 55 will? Only thing I can figure is the boattail has sumptin to do...
Horsey,
My apologies, I adding a one to the measurements of the projectiles. The pulled bullet from the WVX is .812 and the Varmageddon bullets I purchased through Midway is .820. When dealing with bullet tips I have found some may vary considerably and this may be the case here. However, I put...
