    Gleaning Trip

I try to admit to myself what I actually don’t need. I have more 9mm, .556, and a few others than I am realistically going to use. I leave those alone as much as I can, then I have time to cover more ground, or sift for lead.

    Coconut oil for case sizing?

Won’t coconut oil go rancid over time? Might be kind of gross if you let your dies sit too long unless you clean them

How to know if it’s safe to shoot

I guess this is what I was talking about when I said welded. You can see the seam all around the breech plug except for one spot, to me it looks like it’s been tacked and ground smooth. Maybe I’m mistaken?

How to know if it’s safe to shoot

no sign of damage from the outside. I was wondering if the powder doesn’t fully settle into that gap when loaded, and when fired provides air space for gasses to expand, which as I understand causes a pressure spike, might blow everything out? These were taken right after shooting and cleaning...

How to know if it’s safe to shoot

About 10 years ago I had a side job reloading for a couple guys who own a small gun store. They gave me an old cap and ball rifle. I don’t know much about it, not many markings other than “Jukar”. I know it’s nothing special, but I’ve had lots of fun with it over the years. Never thought to...

    Want to reload .410

Maybe a dumb question but why doesn’t anyone sell .410 dies for a regular reloading press? I’ve never loaded a shotgun shell in my life, so I’m probably missing something

    If lost please return to…..

I have a friend (real friend, I would admit if it was me) who always loses his carry knives. Got to the point where he bought a half dozen of the same knife, in anticipation of losing them. He got one engraved with his name and number, and always gets it back. Sometimes it will take weeks or...

    If lost please return to…..

I like the idea of marking the magazine… invisible most of the time, but someone would likely have it out at some point should they find it. It’s also nice because it doesn’t alter the firearm.

    If lost please return to…..

yeah I have never and don’t plan on losing one, but it happens. I’ve lost lots of other things.

    If lost please return to…..

Recent thread about losing and finding guns got me thinking… if I ever found a gun and it had some sort of identification from the owner, I would contact them right away. I expect most responsible people would do the same. It would take a lot of the complexity out of getting it back at least...

I learned how to better adjust my seating depth

Here’s the setup I use, you can get the dial indicator and stand on Amazon real cheap. I’ll make adjustments with it greater than .05” at a time, usually get within a few thousandths of the seating depth I want. Just put downward force on the seating stem while you’re turning it to keep it...

    Sharp *outwards* bulges in case?

+1 on the “after fired”. Even with an inclusion in the chamber the bulge would have been flattened out on its way out of the chamber

The first step was admitting we had a problem.

In addition to everything mentioned above, if you wet tumble are you making certain your brass is completely dry before loading?

    Reloading Shotgun SLUGS

I’ve dabbled in it. Picked up a Browning A Bolt in 12 gauge with a slug barrel last year. I’ve been loading 1oz lee key drive slugs, don’t even need a press. I shoot Remington gun club shells for skeet shooting, and the shells fire formed in my skeet gun fit in my slug gun without sizing. Then...

I got an Ender 3 Pro, supposed to be the go to for beginners like me. what’s the contraption sitting on the blue box?

    3D printed reloading tools?

Just got a new 3D printer. I’ve been on the fence about it for a while, until a buddy of mine got one and showed me all the reloading tools he has printed... 3 days later Amazon kindly dropped one off on my doorstep. Wondering what cool ideas there are out there for 3D printed reloading stuff...

    4064 in 204

Assuming 204 ruger? I’ve done it, but I can’t seem to find my notes on it anywhere. I remember not being very impressed though, just tried it because I had it. Settled on win 748. Sorry that’s not much help, but I’ll bump your post if nothing else.

Anyone else ever use / try Liberty Ammunition?

I ran them over a chronograph and got 1800fps out of a 3” barrel

Anyone else ever use / try Liberty Ammunition?

I used to carry it, mostly because it is so light and carrying too much weight on my belt all day starts to hurt my back. It really does make a big difference there. Carried it for 2 years and replaced it with hornady critical defense simply because I could not find the liberty stuff anywhere...

    Indoor Range head trauma?

I worked last winter with a couple guys who were in the States from India for a few months. Neither of them had ever even touched a gun before, and they were both completely fascinated. A few days before they left for home I took them shooting at an indoor range. They could not get their...
