4064 in 204

Hi, I mentioned in another thread, that turned out real good, that I just picked up a 204. The only powder I have on hand is 4064. I'm moving this aspect of the discussion here because it might be seen by more people.

Yes, I know this is not the ideal powder, or even in the top ten, but this is an excersize in utility because of a massive prairie dog infestation I have. I currently have nosler bt 40gn and loaded about 20 rounds last night. Gonna get out sometime today and print it.

My question simply is, what are you experiences with imr 4064 in this cartridge? I reckon a fair amount of reloaders have tried it, because its so close to varget. I have researched this enough to know all the other powders that would work better, but it's what I got.

Assuming 204 ruger? I’ve done it, but I can’t seem to find my notes on it anywhere. I remember not being very impressed though, just tried it because I had it. Settled on win 748. Sorry that’s not much help, but I’ll bump your post if nothing else.

Yes, 204 ruger, and no problemo. Do you remember any negative side effects, like un burned powder or excessive dirtiness?
