I use Rainier plated bullets and as long as you keep them under the manufacturers recommended speed you should be fine. That being said, be careful getting close to any max charge
every kind of gun can jam...they're mechanical. You will find it's mostly from ammo related issues. I've seen $3500 1911 jam up multiple times due to cheap ammo. Also seen the uber-reliable Glock choke. If you reload, chamber check them to make sure they fit in the barrel.
Part of the...
The Spartan from STI is a really good basic 1911...basic compared to the $1500 and up semi custom stuff. I have a Spartan and you can be competitive with it. If you are not stuck on a 1911, though, I would heavily recommend the Springfield XDm 45...either the standard or the 5.25.
get yourself a Springfield 9mm XDm package for about $600 and you're set for a while... Has everything you need to do idpa pretty well
glock is great too,but the xdm comes with an ok holster and mag carrier plus 3 mags
Dressed as a police officer to the wife's work party...complete with Springfield Armory TRP 1911, spare mag, surefire light, and Benchmade Presidio knife. One guy told me at the end of the night that it made him "nervous"...I just laughed
I find it odd that the original poster has not replied once (unless my eyes are worse than i thought)...
someone just stirring the pot?
everyone should join the NRA...thats a good thing...the rest of it, I think was more for entertainment...just seeing the reponses
the range I use will only allow slugs...so thats all that's been through my 870 Marine Magnum....
I never see any setup for reloading slugs...how do you do it...any special gear?
I have an EOTECH ...the AA battery model...works great...always has. I don't particulary like the look of it, but its a great site. The Aimpoints have a great reputation as well
I have a CZ 75 SA and MEC GAR mags...no issues whatsoever...if you had no issue before using this ammo, it really points to that...try the Winchester again and maybe some other 9mm ammo...but really sounds like the ammo is your issue
does the Winchester work with the MEC GAR mags...im betting...
I've used a CompTac CTAC with my CZ75 for IDPA...personally, I like their MTAC much better...the leather backing is far more comfortable than no backing on the CTAC
worry about your shot placement more than worrying about the ammo selection...as long as it feeds reliably...you are good to go if you are comfortable with it
I had a two piece rod in my SA TRP...replaced it with the normal GI type short guide rod...works flawlessly. I had no issue with the two piece except when you go to take it apart you need a tool...it was a pain.
As for competition, I doubt most people would derive any benefit from that very...
I have an 870 Marine Magnum (18" smooth bore) that has only seen slugs since the range I shoot at does not allow buckshot. Make sure you use "rifled" slugs and you will get very good accuracy out to 50 yards.
I had my CZ75 SA done by Angus Hobdell and co. about two years ago. They do fine work...they replaced the plastic trigger with an adjustable aluminum one...removed the firing pin block and performed a trigger job. It's as good as a nice 1911 (I know, I have one). The only thing I would not...
Either will do just fine.defensively..assuming you are comfortable with the reliability of each.
the accuracy you quote if perfectly fine for defensive purposes...those are not bullseye guns you're talking about. If what will happen, and be honest, is that you buy another gun with the...
I had that issue, however, my CZ75 has a lightened hammer spring in it...some primers were a bit harder than others and I would get a few failures to fire. Changing out the spring did the trick...Magtech as a whole is a pretty good product. Do you have another gun you can test the rounds...
not a grease, exactly, but I use Slide Glide from Brian Enos...you need to use very little and it stays in place. I've had a small container of it for over two years already.
