What's your preferred every day carry?

S&W Shield Plus though I carry my Glock 48 or my S&W 642 on occasion.

    Most fun gun

For me the easy choice is my S&W Model 15.

If you could only have 5 handguns?

    Out of those I own, I could survive with these: Shield+ 9mm (or Glock 48) S&W 642 S&W model 15 .38 S&W K-22 Ruger Blackhawk .45 Colt

Anyone else uses vastly different guns for carry?

Mine only change with the environment. Semi-autos for daily CCW. Roaming in the woods I carry revolvers primarily for the ability to load the first two chambers with shot loads for snake repellent.

    Fifteen years, success, sort of

My brother has a 788 .30/30 that he has used to kill a huge amount of whitetail over the past 50 years. About 20 years ago he expressed concern about it wearing out. By mere chance I saw one listed for sale in our state newspaper about a week later. It was his the next day. He now has two...

Jury finds NRA officers violated responsibilities

If you think that WLP's clothing purchases were the only area of malfeasance then you are being as willfully blind to his theft as the board of directors was. By his own admission he spent millions of dollars on himself, family and friends for private flights, gifts and other expenses. It was...

    Springfield SA-35 Update

I've had my SA-35 for two months, it's serial # is in the 23,XXX range. First range trip ran 150 rounds through it and experienced two failure to extracts in the last twenty rounds. Not wanting to ship it back to SA I had a local smith install a Cylinder & Slide extractor. Since then I've...

Which Guns Would You Pick If You Don't Reload?

I reload and cast for all the metallic cartridges I currently shoot. Absent reloading I would narrow the field: Handgun - .22 LR, .38/357, 9mm Rifle: .22LR, .357, .308 Shotgun: 12 gauge

    Issues with Winchester SPP

Coming to this thread late. I've successfully used winchester primers for three decades. Only this past year I've experienced dud primers at the rate of 3-4%. These were all SPP red compound purchased prior to the covid era and stored in my climate controlled safe room. Initially I thought...

    Dew Point Concerns When Carrying

That is not a concern for me at all. My duty weapon was exposed to every enviroinment immaginable for 8-16 hour shift in and out of hot, cold, rain, ice etc. Wipe it down, clean as needed. After many years it just showed normal handling wear.

    Wayne LaPierre is resigning.

WLP was not the only problem. The BOD that turned a blind eye to the problems and endorsed or at least ignored his actions contributed.

    which pair would you choose?

    I'll take the Marlin/Ruger combo.

    The Combat .22 Semi-Auto

Here's another vote for the S&W M&P 22 compact. I've had mine for almost three years and it's chewed through a mixed bag of ammo without a single failure. My only criticism is that the trigger was gritty when new but has smoothed up with use.

    New Primer Company, Again.

I was thinking the same thing. The plant is only about 30 miles away from me. I may ride over this week and see if I can check them out.

    Best .38 Special Handloads

W231/HP38 are my favorite powders for .38 Special 158 LSWC loads. I've used them since the 90's. 3.5 - 4.2 grains for a pleasant target load. For +p loads my go to for the same bullet is 6.0 grains of Power Pistol. Out of my 4" model 15 it chronographs at (+/-) 1050 FPS. This load is from...

    S&W Mod 60 3" .357

I've had two 3" J frames (Ladysmith .38, and 60 Pro .357) and a 3" SP101. The Ruger had slightly less felt recoil but the actions on the S&W's enabled better accuracy for me. I no longer have any of the three but I'm strongly leaning towards getting another 60-15 in the standard configuration...

    gun pricing

I usually go to gunbroker completed sales (with no reserve) to get a feel for current market values when I'm getting ready to shop.

M&P shield plus 9mm - good , bad or eh

After much internal debate I went from the Shield to the Shield + early last year. Better fit to my hand and insignificant effect on concealment. At +/- 1,000 rounds through it, its been 100% reliable. Glad I made the change the Shield + is my primary CCW.

Sometimes You Just Need to Shoot a Revolver

On my range trips I alternate between revolvers and semi-autos. Though semis are my preference for defensive carry, I enjoy shooting my revolvers more.

    Can there be too many

I have more than I need but want all I have so none are going anywhere. I'm a user, not a collector and every gun gets taken to the range or hunting every couple of months.
