    SIG P320 subcompact kit

When my wife bought a compact P320 several years ago, we sent ordered a sub-compact frame - ours came with a small rail on the bottom of the dust cover - and it fits her hand well. She can shoot it fine with either frame, but it generally has the sub frame. It conceals better too for her. The...

    Range USA

I believe there are two in the Columbus area, one in Lewis Center to the north, and one in Grove City to the southwest. I've not been in either, but I am considering checking out the Grove City store since it's the one closer to me.

Semi-auto...with micro red dot....and life of red dot?

Not a very scientific study, but I've seen more broken iron sights than I have broken RDS. I have two Holosun (507 and a 407) and one Trijicon RDS. I like them and trust them. I have zero issues if someone else doesn't like/want one. The big thing is to be good with what you have.

    Holosun for CCW

I have optics on 3 different pistols, and carry two of them often. I've been carrying a handgun starting with a revolver in the middle 1970s when I started working as a deputy sheriff, retiring in 2011. I didn't have much issue transitioning to an optic. MY experience is, with cowitnesed optics...

    Ten Round Magazines for Traveling

If necessary, I can carry my 1911 or a revolver. I try to avoid places that won't let me carry what I want to carry. As a retired law enforcement officer, I do understand the importance of being found in compliance of laws if there is a need to closely examine a situation even if I don't...

Have you ever walked in to a gun store and bought a gun immediately - Love at First Sight?

    Wait . . . . you mean we're not supposed to do that?? Who knew?? . . . . . hahahaha Oh, absolutely I have!

    Truck/car lock box suggestions

I bought a pair of small gun safes, both keyed alike. The set came with 2 safes and 2 cables. I made up to more cables, so there are 2 cables in each of our vehicles, out of sight. Generally, I keep one box safe in each car, but we can quickly put both in a single vehicle if we need to have...

Red Dots-Who Wears Them On Their EDC Pistols?

I'm good with everyone deciding for themselves what they like and what they want. I have several guns that I have carried over the years with just iron sights. I have two with RDS, and I just ordered a third RDS yesterday for another pistol. I like them and know the strengths and weaknesses of...

Duty/Full Size guns vs carry guns

I have several handguns that I may carry depending on where I'm going / how I need to dress to go there. I have concealed full size (1911 Government, Beretta 92, Ruger Service-Six 4" revolver). I have a Glock 23c (swapped in a 357SIG barrel) I use often, and a smaller, Ruger Max-9, both have a...

Ruger Security 9 Reliability and Accuracy

I have the compact, it failed to feed the very first round. Fed the second, and every single one after that flawlessly. All kinds of factory and handloads have gone down range without fail. It's a keeper.

The Ruger Service Six is a real sleeper

I started carrying a Service-Six .38spl in 1977 as a young deputy sheriff. Still have it. Still like the feel of it. It ain't going anywhere.

Wanting a red dot on a compact pistol.

Last year I bought a Ruger Max9, it's already cut for an optic. I had a Holosun 407K on it before I took it to the range the first time. I really like it for concealability.

    Ammo Choice for CC use?

Lots of great choices on the market today if you can find them SuperVel is back in business and they offer a solid copper HP that really expands well in testing (and in real situations from what I've heard).

Guess how many firearm sales transactions ATF has in its database

I expect them to have as much information as they can collect, even though they are not supposed to keep it. It's the government and they do what they want, no matter what we want. They have perfected the art of lying, just like every government. I don't WANT them to have all of that...

In Defense of the "Heel Release" Magazine

I bought a Beretta 92S in 1983 and carried it as a duty pistol until I retired from the streets in 2008. It has the mag release on the left side down at the heel of the butt. I never had a problem with it. I would pull my spare magazine off my belt, and use the thumb of my left hand to activate...

Future of the Beretta 92 Series

My 92S I bought in 1983, and the 96 INOX recently purchased aren't going anywhere until I'm gone. My 92S got me home in one piece one cold dark evening many years ago. It's a sweetheart. The 96 was just because there was a great price on it, and it looked practically unfired.

    What size reticle?

I saw an assortment of optics at a gun store about a month before I bought my first one. I talked with one of the clerks and was able to look through several and compare them. They were not mounted on pistols, but I could hold them up at arm's length where they would be had they been mounted. It...

magnetized parts tray good idea or not?

I took an old soft refrigerator magnet and glued it to the bottom of a small disposable plastic bowl we got at some restaurant. It isn't very strong, but enough that if I accidentally bump it, the small parts don't dump out. If I knock it on the floor, the parts to go everywhere. It's a slight...
