Ruger SP101: Love it, Hate it, or...?

Had a 3” 38spl that I liked well enough. Seemed blocky and rattley compared to my 642, so I let it go.

Wood and Blued Steel 9mm Carbine? - Henry Homesteader

Nice effort by Henry. Will be on the lookout for one of these.

So what happened to the pump rifle?

I wish they’d bring back the IMI Timberwolf

    Illinois AWB signed

Does this preempt local bans? I think Cook county prohibits all minis. Chicago only bans the folding stock version. I suppose it would be too much to hope for to not be subject to three layers of AWBs.

    Who's had a 'negligent discharge'??

Never so far. To be fair, I rarely find time to go shooting so that gives me fewer opportunities for mistakes and less time to get complacent. I’ve been looking at getting my carry permit and minimizing the possibility of a negligent discharge is top on my priority list as I get set up.

    FFL headache

I won an auction online and already sent over payment. The seller is trying to ship and our respective FFLs each insist the other FFL needs to send a copy of their license first (VA to IL) and will reciprocate once that has been done. We are at an impasse. Has anyone else run into this? Is...

Do any of the 986 PC owners carry it concealed and if so, do you have holster recommendations?

    Active shooter response

I wish this attitude were more pervasive in responding to these mass shootings. I get the feeling from the expert discussion that one or ten or fifty deaths due to inaction are preferable to one death due to action. Hence you get standoffs measured in hours while people bleed out or a shooter...

    Shotgun capacity

You can go to a gun store in the suburbs or order online and ship to an FFL. It’s fairly easy. They’re not responsible for knowing all the ins and outs of the Chicago municipal code. If you bought from a store with a gunsmith you could have the capacity limited before taking possession.

    Shotgun capacity

Thanks. I can deal with one round fewer. Other options would be a Beretta 1301 Tactical or Benelli M2 Tactical, which both have 5 round capacity, and therefore comply with the restriction. I prefer the FN SLP, hence the question.

    Shotgun capacity

I live in Chicago, which has an AWB prohibiting possession of semi-auto shotguns with a fixed magazine capacity in excess of five rounds (that’s just one of a list of features, but the only one relevant to my question.). At some point, I would like to get an FN SLP, which has a capacity of six...

    Smith & Wesson 686 and 9x19mm ammo

Korth announced a conversion kit a couple of years ago, but I don’t know if it ever came to fruition. Their revolvers are very pricey so I suspect the kit would be as well. http://www.gunsholstersandgear.com/2016/01/13/korth-9mm-conversion-for-sw-l-frame-revolver/

    'Scout' Rifle: Where to start?

If you asked Cooper whether adding 1.3 lbs vs the Steyr in order to get semi auto capability was worth it he would certainly say “no”. If you practice your bolt work you can have the second round ready by the time you’re back on target. Then he’d probably ask how the trigger compares to the Steyr.

    'Scout' Rifle: Where to start?

What has changed so much since 2006 that would lead Cooper to design a different gun? One of the recurring themes of his writings is that there is nothing new under the sun. Most new variations are just treading over old ground and true innovations are few and far between. He did like the...
