    1100 or 1187?

Glad I read this... have a new appreciation for my 30 year old 1100, bought for me by my father, after I had to borrow his friend's antique over-and-under when invited to go dove hunting... :D

    Does the Mossberg 500/590 rattle?

My Mossy 500 fore end will rattle if you shake it vigorously, unless your hand is on it. Then it is noiseless.

You thought you had a friend, but you did not.

Found ANOTHER dead deer this weekend

That's what happens with big cat kills we've had in eastern NC. After bringing the prey down, they makea quick meal of the inside of the thighs, then drag it into tall grass or brush, cover it up and come back later. Springmom, you probably found the carcasses after the cat ate, and the...

    An answer to gun grabbers;

Protocol is that when a thread on THR sets one off, one starts a rant thread, right? The informed, thoughtful responses have been interesting to read.

    handguns to alaska

Nothing special about Alaska, right? It is legal to ship to yourself between any two states, as long as it is legal for you to possess the gun in each state.

I heard that you can ship guns to yourself, and pick them up when you get there, no FFL involved, like Malamute said.

NC "A man may carry a gun for any lawful purpose of business or amusement"

I wonder if they have determined for us what are "usual weapons?" If there exists such a thing as an "unusual weapon" then there must be a "usual weapon," eh?

NC "A man may carry a gun for any lawful purpose of business or amusement"

The NC DOJ web site contains writings about the NC law that question whether it is possible to carry openly without risking the "terror of the people" charge. OTOH, I have been told by LEOs that simply going armed openly, without some evidence of causing "terror of the people" is not enough to...

Browning BDM: What a Surprise! A not too objective report...

Does anyone know if it is possible to convert the BDM to it's cousin, the BPM-D? The BPM-D has a return spring on the decocker, so it cannot act as a safety. I love the pistol, but cannot use it's upside down safety.

    Carry while in the house?

When I am at home, I am with my wife and kids... all the people I want to protect more than any others. I figure I would be a tactical error to carry everywhere except at home!

Somebody should ask 1911Tuner about this... I have a feeling I know what he would say. :D

IF an officer asks you for your gun...

I think you are correct. Here in NC, and in many other states, they know it's legit before they approach your car, if it is registered in your name or your spouse's name. In NC, a CCW permit holder is required to tell the officer that he has a permit, and that he is armed, or not armed. It's a...
