I bought a bunch of once fired, semi-hard to find brass, and about half of it is primed. I'm not going to just load and fire it, so does anyone know of a way to deactivate live primed brass? Can I just soak them in something to kill the primers and then size/deprime as usual? Solvents...
I'm wondering if cans are able to suppress high pressure or low pressure better. The reason I ask is there are powders that offer low velocity/performance with high pressures (as apposed to more efficient powders for any given cartridge/bullet). I know that compensators like high pressure, do...
I have a YHM cobra M2 (.45) in on the way, and I was wondering if anyone has tried to put a .45 can on a 300 whisper (sub sonic loads only). Is it quiet? Not quiet? Exploded in your face? Any experience or advice out there?
Thanks!
I read once that long bullet jump can increase throat erosion, is this just a rumor? Or has anyone had this experience? I realize that there’s probably no real data out there, but has anyone loaded rounds with a big jump (like .2 or more) and had a throat erode extra fast or prematurely?
I just swapped a .284win barrel on a Savage (for the first time). I followed instructions found here:
http://www.battenfeldtechnologies.com/wheeler-engineering/catalog.asp?product=savage-barrel-nut-wrench&tab=instructions
The question I have is now that the rifle is assembled (minus the...
Are there any reloading manuals that have loads using RL17?
I'm going to pick up a new manual but I don't want to buy one that doesn't list (specifially) .284win loads (162gr Amax's) with RL17...
Anyone know?
I've somehow become the guy at work that coworkers give oddball old guns to clean and function check. I've got a Stevens 76A and I don't know anything about it, can't find any info at all. Those of you out there with them I have a few questions:
-What does (22lr) "greased Ammunition" mean...
I recently decided to just jump in and buy a silencer. I wanted to get a .22lr silencer, but I thought why not get a 5.56 (I'm looking at a YHM Phantom). I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with shooting .22lr through a 5.56 silencer? Since the construction is quite different, is...
I always hear people say "tracers work both ways" but I'm wondering if they really do. Can you see them if someone is shooting directly at you? Sure you can see them from a more perpendicular angle, but direct? I guess a better question is, has anyone ever been shot at w/ tracers? What did...
I just bought a G23 (private party sale, from a stranger) and the s/n tag on the frame is unlike any other Glock I've seen. I've owned 3 and they all have a polished stainless tag, all of which have a slight bulge or bow to them. This used 23 I bought has a tag that is completely dull and...
I've done a bunch of searching but I've found nothing... How does one decide what depth to seat 45acp? I know different weight bullets are different lengths, so how do I determine depth? Do I measure OAL and subtract the bullet length? and if so what is a standard seating depth? Or do people...
I'm talking about Berry's .45 cal 185 HBRN... What is the point of a hollow base? How does this change pressures? Is it just to keep seating depth and OAL closer to normal?
Thanks!
I was on vacation in San Diego, (and on my birthday) some creeps broke into my house and stole a small fireproof document safe (bunch of documents and a watch). Good news is everything of any value including all my guns, wife’s jewelry etc, safe in the great big gun safe. They didn't even...
Well here in NV, we can carry CCW in bars, and thank goodness for that...

I plink in the middle of nowhere, and there's a washer & dryer at 15 yards and another one at about 100 yards. There is a whole ton of lead surrounding both of them, and many bullets are just laying on the ground right in front or behind. Some might be just a jacket, maybe some mangled lead...
I have an 8 shot Mossberg 500, and I was wondering if there are any barrel requirements to adding a choke (like thicknes). I'm new to this process and was wondering if I can just ream/tap any old barrel for a choke. Any advice?
Thanks
I just bought a new AR and I keep getting stuck shells. Twice in about 100 rounds I get an empty case stuck in the chamber, bad enough that it rips off the rim. I've had to use a cleaning rod to tap out the shell, but there's no damage to the case or anything??? What on earth is the problem...
Maybe someone here can help, but I'm looking for a manufacturer that makes a copy of the old Winchester 1887/1901 lever action shotguns...
I've remember seeing a company that makes em (and for pretty cheap too) but I can't remember where, and my searches prove nothing.
Help please!
Thanks!
I was a long time Polymer (Glock) hater, until I started carrying a full size 1911 everywhere... Changed my mind real quick, and now I carry a G27. But in a recent poll here, people came out of the woodwork recommending the XD. Why? Just don't understand why, am I missing something?
