    Lead Poisoning --Valuable Health Information

Causer of high lead levels I've got an article at Wolfe Publishing on this now. Don't know if they will take it or not but... Bullet casting does not raise blood lead levels, at least if you are using normal precautions. Shooting cast pistol bullets can but you have to have a VERY high...

    tara corp

Bill Ferguson Talked to him today. He isn't selling alloy anymore. And I've tried buying from him off an on for the last several years. Never got anything. For all practical purposes, at least as far as alloy is concerned, he is out of business. May sell other things, like furnaces, but...

    Lead Poisoning --Valuable Health Information

Lead posioning mostly comes from shooting cast bullets, not making them. Shooting cast pistol bullets is only a problem if you approach 6000 rounds a month but it does not take much to get you in trouble with cast rifle bullets. The 2012 Gun Digest will have an article explaining all this...

Does anyone here use the RCBS piggyback press? Opinion?

If memory serves If memory serves the first two versions of the Piggyback were far from perfect but my the third try they got it right. I've got two of those both of which I've used a lot. No problems whatsoever. I clean them about once a year and by then they are filthy. But they work.

    Lead Poisoning --Valuable Health Information

Lead Levels My understanding is that if your blood lead level is below 20 there isn't much cause for concern. Between 20 and 30 you should be trying to find out where the exposure is coming from. Between 30 and 40 you should be seeing a doctor. Above 40 you are going to need serious...

    Brass life

On pistol rounds, like the 357 or 44 magnums I usually get over 20 reloads per case. Straight walled rifle cartridge brass usually lasts so long that I never fails. I sold my 45-90 and had over 35 reloads per case. A friend was approaching 65 reloads. With bottlenecked rifle cases 15 reloads...

    Colt New Service .38-40

Colt New Service 38-40 I had one of these decades ago. What I remember about it was that the shoulder moved forward maybe a quarter inch. Apparently way back when the location of the shoulder depended on who made the gun. So I used two full length resizing dies, one for new brass and one for...

    Star Realoader !!??

The Star was invented in the late 20's by Ellord Mott. Knew him. He based his machine on a Winchester patent from the 1890's. Progressive reloaders were actually invented in the 1890's. I always found that odd. Ellord made a number of machine. The first was the non-Universal. Basically...

    casting bullets for the ak47?

Metal Deposites I probably put well over 2000 rounds per year through each of several magnum handguns. All use linotype bullets. If I'm careful about the lubricant used, I do not get metal buildup on the guns. Lyman Blackpowder Gold, for example, keeps the vaporized lead soft so that it can...
