    Worst production 1911?

I have no idea what was (is) the worst 1911 ever made, but the worst 1911's I have ever owned were Kimbers. I had a SS Target II and a limited edition Target Master. I shot each of them in competition and ran many 1,000's of rds through each. Each was well made, very accurate and quite beautiful...

    How many perfect feeds="carry reliable"?

My carry gun is always on probation.

    Absolute BEST constructed 1911s

I cannot say which is best, not having shot them all, but when I had a gift certificate for $$$ at a major gun shop, I opted for Les Baer. I have not been disappointed.

    Replacement Handgun Magazines

I have some of lots of brands of mags and lots of some brands. Currently I like Cobra mags by Tripp for 1911's; Springfield mags for my XDm's & XDs'; and SIG's for the SIG's. In other words, I like factory mags except for 1911's.

Sig P238 versus Colt Mustang XSP

Another +vote for the P238. It is reliable, shockingly accurate and has the 1911 manual of arms.

    which .380

Had the KelTec, tried the others, still have and carry the SIG 238 generally as backup. It is reliable, although fussy about ammo, and shockingly accurate.

Anyone ever have a bad range day?

A bad day at the range is when I learn nothing about myself or my tools, even if the only thing I discover is that I need to shoot more.

    Remanufactured Ammo

I have been running Georgia Arms Canned Heat for years. Many thousands of rds in 9 & 45, FMJ & JHP. No problems and very accurate + they are very easy to do business with.

does everyone carry their 1911 cocked and locked?

Have safely carried in Condition One for many years. (I do check to make certain the thumb and grip safeties as well as the half-cock and firing pin are functioning properly.)

I have gotten a LOT of stuff from them. Easy to buy, easy return if necessary and good prices.

Dan Wesson Valor or Les Baer

My 1911 experience is limited to Kimbers, Springfields and Les Baers. IMHO, Kimbers are accurate, but not 100%. The Springfields, 1 reliable, but not super accurate; 1 fairly accurate, but not reliable. The Les Baer, reliable and accurate. When I got the LB, I could have gotten any 1911. I...

Great article about the 1911, good and bad

It is a fine article expressing one man's opinion. Yes, Mr. Yam knows his pistols, and 1911's in particular, but it is still his opinion. My opinion is somewhat different. I have carried, competed and smithed 1911's for many years, and like many of us in the "older" crowd, I was a revolver...

Round counting per firearm (use tracking)

I count the first 2,000 rds, after that I rely on ammo bills for a ballpark of how much I run out of what.

    How Good Is Good?

There are folks capable of consistent near perfect target shooting. Some years ago in our PPC League on the last day of the combat course of fire a CPD range officer, Dora Rogers, stepped up to the line at our local pd indoor range and shot 10 rounds of 48 shots each @7, 15 and 25 yds, all timed...

Calling all of you who carry a 1911.

Years ago I was at our range to requalify with my SIG P226. My buddy, Chuck B was in the next lane with his 1911. He asked me if I wanted to try it before my turn. I had never shot one before. After 6 rds, I asked him if I could qualify with it. Lo and behold I ran a perfect requal: 50 rds. I...
