Wow, DA/SA coming back? Shows that what goes around comes around.
To the question regarding serial numbering the barrel to the receiver, that's a not uncommon practice for many manufacturers. It's generally seen as a guarantee that the barrel has been "mated" to a specific firearm, hence...
Paras I have seen were lacking in the fitting department. Example: a 1911's barrel hood should not depress when pushed if properly fitted. The worst example of this fit I have seen was on a Para Elite, which had considerable barrel hood movement. Also, I'm not sure where you are getting...
If you're trying to keep it under $300, a lot of people look to the S&W SD9VE if the high trigger pull weight doesn't bug you (but it is striker fired, so may not be your thing). Also, a used Ruger P95 would be a GREAT choice for a hammer fired 9mm.
Take a look at the Sig SP2022. You can find the NIB for $400, and they are a great polymer framed Sig with an external hammer and decocker. Think of it as a polymer framed P226. In fact, I've sold two P226's and kept the Sp2022 as I liked it so much, even more than the P226.
I'd shy away from...
I run 200 gr SWC cast bullets (polymer coated) on top of 5 gr of Unique. Not sure of the FPS, but the max load of 5.4 grains of Unique runs 790 FPS according to the Alliant load data.
Asking a question like this is going to generate a mountain of personal opinions. Like other posters have asked, really need to know what you intend to do with this pistol. Kind of like walking onto a car lot, asking the salesperson "what automobile is the best under $30,000?" isn't going to...
I've tried the CZ-75 multiple times but can't get it to work for me as much as I would love it to. Just never seemed to "click." PPQ, for me, is vastly superior in terms of shootability and trigger. But, it's really a personal preference thing in the end. Kind of like Ford vs. Chevy on this...
If your ad is the one I'm thinking of, listed at $1,500, it's not going to get much action at that price. I'd lower it to $900 and see what you get. Not to be critical, but just a suggestion that you change the caliber to 45 ACP as it's currently listed as 45 Colt (which, if someone is...
Hey, thanks for the heads up. I've thought about this in the past and it's pretty low on the priority list, but I appreciate the insight.
Enjoy the Beretta... mine is one of my favorite 9's.
Good call on the Beretta. I love my 92fs. The only thing I changed was a D spring install, but otherwise it's stock. Just a classic design that's a blast at the range and accurate as heck.
I suppose I'm one of the Dan Wesson fanboys. I like things that work well and exhibit a high degree of quality, fit, and finish. DW 1911s meet all three requirements while staying below a price point for anything else I've seen or owned of similar quality in the 1911 world. My S&W PC1911 is...
I've always loved the slim lines of the Hi Power. It's always made me think other 9mms feel "overweight" in comparison. I have a Practical model, picked up used several years ago. Alas, it doesn't get as much range time as other pistols do these days (I've been on a 1911 kick for a few years...
