In the mood for another pistol

Well I ended up getting an Italian made 92FS. I just love the lines of the old school ones.

I haven't shot it yet. At the moment it's completely detail stripped and I'm polishing up the trigger bar, trigger pin, and hammer strut. I'm also going to install a few upgrades that I still have in my big box of Beretta parts. Extended mag release, thin VZ grips, "D" spring. I've got a couple other parts on order (skeletonized hammer and Wilson Combat short reach trigger.) That stuff is due to get here Tuesday and I'll want to polish those up to smooth things out also, so it'll be a few days before I get everything back together.

I'm excited. It's going to look nice and I think it'll be a good shooter.

Tirod, I might be wrong but I think you can drop parts in the 1911 Colt Series 70 Reproduction. I've read that they don't use the Series 80 firing pin safety and extractor or the original Series 70 collet bushing. Also, they don't use a plastic mainspring housing and trigger, which to me would be much preferred. I hope all that is true since I'm planning to buy one as soon as I can locate one.

Well so far I am pretty happy. I've already done quite a bit of work. Installed the D spring, the skeletonized hammer, and the short reach trigger as soon as I got it. Also polished up the trigger bar and a few other pieces. Feels pretty good but I could still do a bit more with it.

I managed to get one of those decocker conversion kits from the M9A3 from Beretta. That'll be here on Monday so I started prepping for that by taking out the safety mechanism.

Good call on the Beretta. I love my 92fs. The only thing I changed was a D spring install, but otherwise it's stock. Just a classic design that's a blast at the range and accurate as heck.

The kit was like $55 from Beretta.

All that came in the package besides the parts was a piece of paper with url to the directions. They're not very good. Thankfully there's a couple videos people have posted on youtube. I recommend watching them a few times, and take it slow. Also the trick of putting a 1 gallon ziplock bag over it while you're working with the springs is a good idea. I had one go launching twice. (They do include two sets of springs and plungers, but thankfully I found the one that got away both times.)

Once I got it on there it works great. The right side lever does stick out kind of funny to clear the frame but I'll get used to it.

Hey, thanks for the heads up. I've thought about this in the past and it's pretty low on the priority list, but I appreciate the insight.

Enjoy the Beretta... mine is one of my favorite 9's.

If you go the Beretta route, I'd very highly recommend a Wilson Combat 92G. I'm giving thought to a 92G Compact myself.
