    Gas block help

Got a problem. Building a 300 BLK pistol and noticed the barrel has the gas port drilled .295" off the barrel shoulder. The block I have the gas port is drilled .295" off the front of the block. Does anyone know of any .750" gas blocks that have the port drilled .295" off the back face with a...

    Ballistic Products done good

I had a problem with BP's TPS wads in 12ga 3.5 inch flavor. They don't have data for steel shot, period. They say it takes 1 1/2oz of steel shot...how do they know? I bought two of their load books and neither had data for the wad with steel shot. I made my frustrations known when I reviewed...

One size for mallards and canadas

I know that there is no panacea, but I've been hunting in northern Illinois for waterfowl for just a couple years. We get a real mixed bag of mallards and canadas. Hunting over decoys in a flooded piece of grain field. Assuming 50 yard max shots, my thoughts were 1 1/2oz buffered #1 steel...

    T/C factory sight in

Maybe I'm having a case of CRS but once upon a time didn't T/C advertise that with 2-50 grain Pyrodex pellets and a 250 grain Shockwave bullet shoot to the sights from the factory? I distinctly remember a commercial on TV. "Just take it out of the box and go hunting"...something along those...

    Shotshells data

Looking for a good source of shotshells reloading data. I bought the Ballistic Products Advantage manual it is really great, as long as you have their brand of wads and hulls they sell... Got Remington hulls and claybuster wads? It's not a part of their "5,860 load recipes". Is there a good...

    30-30 loads with 748

Just comparing 30-30 data shows a lot of variance from different sources. Hornady lists 36.5 grains of Winchester 748 behind a 170 grain Hornady bullet other sources list 34 grains and even 32 grains as max. Seeing how the Hornady start load is 31.4 grains is it a reasonable expectation that...

    Franchi Renaissance Ejection problems

Have the above in 20 gauge and yes it does have ejectors not extractors. The top barrel will not eject fired shells. The bottom is fine. It was my fathers and I believe he did drop the barrel set onto carpet covered concrete when cleaning, that's when the problems started. It ejects A-zoom...

    First issue Police Positive Special

Got a nice 1916 PPS with 6" Bbl. Doesn't look like it was shot all that much just holster wear and 80% bluing turning plum on grip strap. There is a scallop cut on the underside of the top strap. Is this supposed to be there for black powder loadings or is it some serious flame cutting...

    201gr SWC are 216gr

I'm using 10:1 alloy in the RCBS 201gr SWC mould and the finished weight is 216.4-217.0 grains. I know that 10:1 is heavier than #2 alloy, but should I just extrapolate load data from 200grain and 230grain cast bullet loads? I have a can of Bullseye sitting here doing nothing and thought that...

Marvel Unit 2 or TS 2211?

Help me decide. $ not a real concern, all fall in my budget. I want it all though: Ability to fit holsters for 1911, ability to digest ALL ammo types (or as close to as possible), accurate. Ability to fit multiple caliber frames a plus. Last shot hold open not really that critical. I've...

    8/3 sight on carbine

Will the elevation index on a 8/3 match up on a carbine? I'm willing to bet no based on the reduced sight radius. Also, how much does the click value change? I heard it was 1.39MOA per click when on a rifle, but how much on a carbine?

Why so hard to get a standard 20" A2 barrel?

Im having a hard time finding a standard gov. profile, 1:7 twist, 5.56 chrome lined barrel for an AR. The only one I can find is a Green Mountain barrel, but it comes stripped. Anyone know where I can lay my hands on one with a non-F marked tower, and delta ring already on?

    98 Mauser question

Looking for infor on an action I have. It has Mauser-Werke AG Oberndorf on the side, Nazi marks and D83xx serial#. It has a crest covered up by a scope mount, which I would remove, except it is welded in the rear screw hole (broken tap?). Any info on it?

    Any Zastava m70 owners?

I'm talking about the bolt action not the AK variant. I think they were imported by Remington and Charels Daly also, but now I see K-Var has them and they look alot better, with oil finished walnut and polished blue steel. The price is pretty attractive also. I think I'd like one in 6.5x55...

    1911 barrel fitting help

Installed a new barrel from Storm Lake. The slide needs to be jiggled front to back to get it to unlock and needs to run up from slide lock to lock. Am I correct in assuming that the front corner of the lower lug needs to be filed down or am I missing something?

Accurate throat measurement in a revolver

What is the best way to get the throat measuement in a revolver? I'm going to start casting some 200gr .38spl bullets after seeing some promise with Western Bullet Co. hard cast ones. I wanted to try something about Bn 10-12 sized for the throat rather than the land dimensions, at about...

    New Colt Mustang Pocketlite

Just got one only fired about 50 times. Funny how it doesn't have an aluminum trigger as advertised. Serial# PL575xx. I'm hoping I wasn't duped that this is an older model. It came with the origianl box which is the big one-size-fits-all colt box. Any thoughts? I really like it so far...

    Ithaca Customer Service

The best. Recently I boought a Deerslayer I barrel which was shipped to me fast enough. I think I had it in 3 business days. It came in a large box with several layers of bubble wrap. Unwrapped it carefully and then the light pipe on the front sight came out. The front tube that holds it...

    Checkering on Pre-64 M70 Featherweight

Were all the Featherweights checkered from the factory? I recently became the 3rd generation to own a 1959 M70 Featherweight in 270. My granfather was and avid tinkerer and althought the checkereing is symetrical and of the correct pattern there are alot of overruns and the border looks...

    Marlin Mod. 38

Just got my fathers after he passed and it is missing the rear sight elevator. Does anyone have one that can give me a close up of the rear sight so I can get a replacement. The slot measures .108" It shoots fine without it because the rear leaf is adjustable for height but I would like to...
