    Savage Model 24 side lever

A friend has an old Model 24S he's having an issue with so hoping I can get some info to help him. His is the side over variation and it having the release lever work it way out requiring it get tapped back in. Looking at breakdowns, I'm wondering if it could be a weak spring on the locking...

    .22lr Ammunition

Don't forget, that ammo they use has to have cool packaging, a tough sounding name and evil looking so it makes them appear even more tactical. :roll eyes: Sadly, you're spot on. Too many I honestly believe that starting with the 22lr is beneath them as they see it as a kids chambering...

    Shake your head questions

Funny how gun folks will bicker back and forth about correct terminology and names and accept it as "we all know hat it means" but if the media incorrectly uses a term or or incorrectly describes anything gun related it calls for a hanging? Rather than worry about 45 Colt vs 45 Long Colt...

My First Time Being Uncomfortable Being Around Someone Carrying a Gun

My first thoughts as well. Just someone needing a testosterone boost with the attention.

Do you carry while hiking, rock climbing, etc?

Nope. Never really considered it much. Never an issue and never head of any issue up this way at all. I guess if anything, there's the hiking sticks but otherwise... What we do for hiking is mostly the more aggressive stuff often with hand over hand rock scrambling and rock fields. This...

What do you look for in a holster

Leather is a must! No fondness at all for kydex. Want something that's form fitted specifically for the model of the gun itself and not just a mass produced generic mess. I want is hand boned and not machine/vacuum formed. No issue paying for a GOOD holster and will gladly pass over the...

    Why i prefer cross draw.

Been wanting a good cross draw(front position) for a bit now to use while in the woods. VERY much like Mitch Rosen's stuff (have a few of his pieces) and his CCR is nice just not available for a Blackhawk (makes sense). Anyone know of and better yet, use, a frontal positioned cross draw for...

What happened to hunting rifle stocks?

Perfect! Shows how much fashion matters to the rough & tough males of pack in the same way it does to women and they handbags. Fashion over function. :)

    Ruger Gunsmith wanted

Hold on..... Knee jerk "Call Ruger" isn't always the best route, especially for something that could be simple. What exactly is it doing/not doing? Factory parts? Aftermarket parts? Before sending it off, if actually necessary, aways check 10/22 tech stuff on RimfireCentral -...

What happened to hunting rifle stocks?

Funny how ppl are bothered by the less "traditional" styles and materials yet are more than content not actually hunting in the traditional manner... You know, actually walking, and pursuing the game instead of sitting in a manufacturer tree stand/blind. :never: As for the "cheaper"...

    Ruger warranty.

It's a self admitted used, beat up carbine...spend the whopping - maybe - $12 and simply buy a new rear sight. it' the gun's condition, I really would;t worry much about marring things up. Heck, at this point it's a screwdriver/hammer fix.

    Apple: no more gun emojis!

What's sadder is that the media make it such a point to bring this to attention of the masses. Also makes me wonder how many upset actually used it. Just another of those cases where ppl are fine until something comes out then it's :what::what::what: yet they'll continue to use...

That should answer your question right there. Once again, ppl put too much emphasis on the dollar:dollar aspect and less on the :) factor.

PROUDLY MADE IN THE USA! ..... proudly?

Been that way for a long time. The days of workers actually caring about the product went away and were replaced by just worrying about the paycheck. Reason #1 why manufacturing went elsewhere.

Where/Who to leave my guns to when dead?

Each of mine has a record of it's origin and if applicable, where it goes. One goes to my brother as it's one he's always loved. A few specifically go to my son. the rest... let ppl do with them as they wish. I'l be dead and gone so is it gonna effect me? :roll eyes: I know by what I...
