    Red dot for an AK?

My converted Saiga .223 (yes, I know, I turned a "sporter" into an EBR;)) currently sports an inexpensive 4x scope that I use at 50 yds., and lately (couldn't have anything to do with age, I'm sure) it doesn't seem to to give me as visible a target, using an 8" Shoot N See, as I would like. I am...

    .204 Ruger for target?

So I shot a Savage .204 Ruger the other day and really liked it. I'm selling off a .243 Winchester that was an impulse I now realize I should have resisted and will likely replace with this caliber. I know CZ and Savage make 'em, but any recommendation for a 100 yd. target model would be...

New long gun and nowhere to go.

My Winchester XPR .243 Win just got out of jail, and my local range is still closed. I have ammo made up, new glass on the way, ready to see what she'll do at 200 yds. Normally, I don't walk more than 100 yds, but for this rifle I made an exception. Waiting and waiting...sigh.

    H4198 in a semiauto .223?

Typically I use H335 in my autoloading .223 under a 55gr FMJ, and it is as dependable a powder as any I've yet used, but I have a pound of 4198 that has been sitting on the shelf for too long (tried it in my target rifle and couldn't get consistent results with it), so I thought I'd use it up in...

    .38spl/.357mag Lever gun shooters-bullet choice?

Have acquired a Rossi 92 in the above calibers, but all my bullets are SWCs, which do not feed well in this rifle. Typically, I use 158 gr. bullets, but lately I am favoring TCs, which feed nicely. Problem is, this bullet doesn't seem to be available in 158gr.; however, Acme has a 125gr. "flat...

38 spl. in carbine lever gun?

Hey all- I am about to acquire a 357/38 carbine lever gun. Typically, I would shoot .357 mag, as this is what I use in my revolver. However, I have quite a bit of .38 brass I'd like to put to good use. So, do any of you who have such a long gun use .38 spl in it, and if so and you reload, what...

    Must have a lever gun...

...again. Had a great Marlin .357 carbine, octagon barrel model years ago and foolishly sold it. I'd love to replace it in that caliber with the same barrel, and gate loading if possible. I see Marlin, Cimmaron, Rossi, etc. make them, but I know nothing about the current crop to know what is...

    Digital reloading manuals?

Hey all- Anyone know if any of the popular manuals are available in a downloadable format? I'm thinking Hornady or Lyman; the latter is only available in print on Amazon, so I thought I'd check here. TIA.

.358 pilot for RCBS case trimmer?

Hey all- I have an older RCBS rotary case trimmer given to me and am looking for a pilot for it that will work with .38spl/.357mag cases. I found this at Midway (https://www.midwayusa.com/product/160463/rcbs-case-trimmer-pilot-35-caliber-9mm-355-358-diameter) but was not sure it was the right...

    AA#5 users-recipe for 200 gr RN in .45ACP?

Never used this powder before, but it gets so many recommendations that I thought I'd give it a try in my XD45 Tac. Moving over to 200 gr. coated RN bullets, so I'd welcome any suggested loads and the OAL you set. May also try it with 230 XTP as well. TIA!

    My last rifle

Over the years I have bought and sold several guns, long and hand, and regretted most of them. Two I have re-bought (Buck Mark URX & a 5" XD45), and would like to get the one that really got away as what will likely be my final firearm purchase (an age issue), an octagon-barreled, gate loading...

    Saiga .223 doubling

So, at the range last week and my Saiga .223 began doubling, so I unloaded it and put it away. I bought and converted this rifle about five years ago, and it has performed flawlessly until recently. I'm shooting home brew ammo, LC brass (full resize, swaged and trimmed), 22 gr. of H355, 55gr...

    My next semiauto?

So I'm ready to buy my next pistol, but can't decide between a 5.5" Buckmark and an 5" XD45. Trouble is (you'll love this), I've owned both of these guns and sold them both; I know, I know. Now, when I buy, I keep, so while I may end up eventually getting both again, I can't seem to decide which...

    10/22 owners-which model?

Lord knows Ruger makes enough of them o_O. Looking to do 50 yd. target plinking, range only. Will put some inexpensive glass on it and run the best ammo I can afford. Never had an rimfire autofeeder before, so I'd like to get it right the first time. Oh, and I know how popular this rifle is...

    5.56 primers in Rem .223?

Back during the Great Primer Famine, I counted myself lucky to get a brick of CCI 5.56 primers that came in a plain, white box. The guy who sold them to me swore they were safe in a .223 round, and if I used them, it would be in my Saiga .223. Any opinions on safety here? TIA.

    Federal Match SR primers?

Hello all; been away for some time and am back shooting again. Looking for Federal match primers for my Howa .223 target, and, well, nada! Do they exist, and if so, can they be had? I have about 500 left and am scrimping to make them last. Thanks for any leads.

Where to find serial # on Sears rifle

I am trying to find the serial # on a Sears & Roebuck rifle I bought back in 1966 that, according to my source (https://www.gun-data.com/sears_roebuck_guns.html) was made by Marlin (Sears model 43-103.19811). Look as I might, I cannot find the serial on this gun. Any help is much appreciated.

Bullet choiice for .223 - 200yds or more?

Hi- I have my 100 yd. load for my Howa 1500 1:12 bolt gun dialed in (60 gr. Sierra Varminter over 22.7 gr of H322), so I'd like to start working on a 200 yd. load, which I am thinking ought to use a heavier bullet (am I wrong here?) Can I get a bullet and powder recommendation from those of you...

Opinions on the .22 Win Magnum

Thinking about adding this caliber to my collection but know little about it. While they seem to be popular for varmint hunting, my use would be limited to target shooting (for now). I have my eye on the Marlin 983s, and I know CZ and Savage (among others) also make popular models. What do you...

Who makes a soft rifle case...

..that is big enough to hold a target rifle with a fairly large scope? I have a Howa 1500 with a thumb hole stock and a high-mounted scope with a 50mm objective, so overall this combo is tall. None of the cases I've been able to find (including the Allen lineup) thus far fit, and I'd rather not...
