Just heard that CT raised the fee for pistol permits to $70, up from $35. I guess when they attempted to find ways to pay for the budget, they figured "gunnies' could pay more. :(
I gather it went into effect Oct 1st.
Any reloaders in the area of western CT (Danbury) that reload .40S&W or 5.56?
If so, PM me if you need some brass. I have about 15gals of mixed stuff- 99.9% of it is the above two calibers.
It's all from new factory ammo- obviously used once. :p
I was reading a report on a weapons discharge in an MRI environment. The report said, "The officer was carrying a model 1991 A-1 compact.45 caliber semiautomatic pistol (Colt's Manufacturing, Hartford, CT)".
Maybe I'm not up on my Colts but is there such a pistol with that nomenclature?
Just...
I was afraid I may hijack the one on the CO OC question, so I figured it would be proper to start another one which is kind of on topic, but strays from that OP.
Since the question of being arrested for OC'ing came up, and I said you'd run afoul of the law in CT, I quickly did some research...
I guess I need some more training on the law.
This was in the local paper today.

A co-worker of mine has bought a house in FL in preparation for retirement. While down there on a visit, he got a FL Driver Lic (DL). Evidently, FL will issue a DL to "part-time residents". The DL has a "Valid in FL only" endorsement on it.
Two questions came to my mind-
1. Does having...
Not that I really minded having to follow it, but I was struck the apparent disconnect in Cabela's policy at their CT store.
You can carry into the store. So, if you are a cop or a person with a permit, you walk all through the store armed (and hopefully loaded :p ).
You buy a gun (at...
I did a search but didn't find anything.
I keep a set of Glock parts handy, not because they really ever break, but because I ended up acquiring a lot of spare parts while doing work for folks.
If I was to make a "Glad-Pac" (coined by a friend of mine who said those will be the parts...

A search gave me no good suggestions... but I'll bet there is a thread on it.
I have a flattop Bushie with an Aimpoint on it, but due to a few issues it's not great for duty work. I decided to use my DPMS as my duty rifle and it's got a fixed carrying handle (A1 style).
Since the...
I looked to see if this has been posted, but didn't find anything.

I just attended another “task force” meeting on creating safer universities. I’m about ready to cry. It’s getting far from reality. But, please enjoy this rant. Since the last meeting was basically about how evil guns caused the VA Tech...
Does anyone here actually have a well-written will that directs where things go?
Or, do you have a general will that gives everything to, say your wife, and then she can give various items to members of the family where she sees fit.
I ask for a reason. I may share those reasons such I...
I'm a police officer. I mourn each and every LEO death. But this type of article is so full of crap, it defies all logic. I added a few comments in the article, bracketed and in bold. My own little rant... :fire:

This is a bit long... bear with me. I need to set the stage. :o
So, I’m sitting outside at my picnic table working on my Mauser project. It has a badly pitted barrel and I was running a cleaning rod and brush attached to a cordless drill through the barrel. I was using a rather nasty solvent...
I'm confused about the laws that pertain to private handgun sales. It seems to happen when I try to work through all of the applicable laws. :banghead:
I know the states all have their own laws. For instance, the way I read CT laws, you can't privately sell a handgun without state police...
