Winchester 94 clone with no markings?

Local Cabelas has a used levergun. In .38-55 Win, has a 24", maybe 26" octagonal barrel. Tagged as a Winchester but my money says not, it just doesn't have the fit and finish of a Winchester, but looks like a Model 94 clone. Has a Winchester buttplate though. It's obviously not real old, and...

    Hey Colorado members!

I have a leftover deer tag for a whitetail doe, good only in GMU 104, for December 1st through 14th rifle season, and I need a place to hunt. Just me, one lonely old man, nobody else. Using a .44 mag or .30-30 rifle. Anybody here with land and whitetails in 104? Or that may know a friendly...

"1920" stamp on old German pistols

Can anyone tell me what this "1920" means on my 1914 Mauser? I read about it once, but can't recall exactly what it meant. Seems like it had something to do with the government taking peoples guns, or nationalizing them, something like that. Guess it's not uncommon to see.

Value of a WWII USMC Kabar with USMC sheath?

I spotted a WWII USMC Kabar Fighting Knife in an antique shop recently. Don't "need" it, but I like to collect WWII militaria and it would be a nice addition. I didn't get it out of the case to check it out closely, but assuming it's in good shape and all correct, what should it be worth? It...

    Chest holsters

Anybody use a chest holster for carrying a handgun when deer/elk hunting? I have a nice 6" S&W 586 that I'd like to carry, and have been wondering about them. There's nice (and expensive!) leather ones, and Cabela's carries a decent looking nylon model. So, anybody use one? Like it? Etc.....

    Scope on an air rifle?

I've heard that putting a non-airgun scope on a spring powered pellet rifle is a bad idea, something about the spring mechanism damaging the internals of the scope. But what about a pump-up type pellet rifle? Will that damage a regular scope? I ask because I have a Daisy Powerline 880...

Making jacketed bullets with fired cartridge cases?

Does anybody here make their own jacketed bullets using cartridge cases? Seems to be fairly common on the Cast Boolits forum. I'm intrigued by this concept, especially using .22lr brass to make .223 bullets. Just wondered if anyone here does it. Trying to get an idea of cost, results, etc.

Uberti Cattleman loading gate spring replacement

I have an Uberti Cattleman in .45 Colt, and have a new loading gate spring to install. Not sure if the old one's bad, but the gate doesn't stay closed all the way, and the spring was cheap. Anyway, I can't find any instructions on the 'net on how to do this. Can anyone point me to a tutorial...

mixing tung oil and boiled linseed oil?

Anybody know if it's OK to put boiled linseed oil on a rifle stock that was previously coated with pure tung oil? Good idea or bad?

thread about a C&B revolver gunsmith?

I recently read a thread on a gun forum about a member of that forum that specializes in tuning and tweaking cap and ball revolvers, but I can't for the life of me remember what forum, the name of the gunsmith, website, etc. I neglected to bookmark it when I saw it, and now I can't find it...

    Clay Clips, experiences?

I just saw the ad here for Clay Clips and ordered a couple packages, they looked like a wonderful idea! Just wondering if anybody else has bought/used any and can relate how well they work? http://www.clayclips.com/ Since I use target frames with cardboard backing these looked to be perfect...

    How common is .44 Colt?

At a local store they have several boxes of .44 Colt ammo. I'd never heard of .44 Colt before, so I'm curious - how common is this caliber? I'm assuming it's an old revolver round.

holster rec. for 6" Virginian Dragoon?

I have this 6" .44 Magnum Virginian Dragoon, big ol' honkin' thing. I know there's other owners of these here. I'd like a basic holster like a nylon Uncle Mike's Sidekick, just something to protect it with for storage and transport. Anybody have any recommendations? A Sidekick would be...

converting GP-11 brass to Boxer primers?

I've heard that it's possible to convert 7.5x55 Swiss GP-11 rifle brass from Berdan primers to Boxer primers. Anybody out there do this, know how to do this, or can direct me to instructions? I just hate to scrap this beautiful brass. Thanks!

Berdan primed .303 British brass worthwhile?

I know there's a lot of guys out there that reload Berdan primed brass, especially rifle. I have a lot of surplus POF .303 Brit. brass in my scrap bucket, which is Berdan primed. My question is - would it be worthwhile to try to market it that POF .303 brass? Does anybody think it is worth...

    BP supplies

So, I have three .44 BP revolvers, and shoot them very little. I haven't had a need to search for powder, caps, balls and .44 wads yet, but I'm wondering if the current craziness over ammo and reloading supplies has affected BP supplies too. Have you guys been able to get stuff? There's no place...

    record your guns!

We all know it's a good idea to keep a record of your guns in case of theft or natural disasters, so I made up this Excel file. It's pretty simple, just save this Master copy on your hard drive, then open it up and rename it for each of your guns, like "Ruger 10/22". Then you just fill in the...

    source for Ubertis?

It's not like I frequent lots of gun shops, but I can't recall EVER seeing any new Uberti guns in any shop here in Denver. Is there a good on-line dealer that normally has a good selection in stock? If anyone knows of a place in the Denver area that keeps them stocked, please let me know. I...

    Looking for a certain video.....

A few years ago I saw a video of a guy shooting a Barrett .50 rifle. He had it on the tailgate of his pickup and was stretched out, using the tailgate as a shooting bench. When he fired the monster, the muzzle blast DEMOLISHED the taillight right next to the muzzle. Funny as hell! Anybody...

Colorado lawmaker pushing anti-gun bills has arrest record!

State Representative Rhonda Fields of Aurora, CO, is one of the evildoers pushing for new gun laws here, including banning of 30-rd. magazines and assault rifle, among other things. Turns out, she's a thief! Has a criminal record for shoplifting arrests, and using many different aliases. Here's...
