Major Failure with (modified) 870 Police

I was out shooting birdshot out of my 870 today for practice when the gun had a major failure to feed. For some background, the weapon is a Remington 870 Police Magnum 18" I bought NIB about 250 rounds ago (1 month-ish) and then installed a Wilson Combat +2 extension along with the "improved"...

Tell me I'm not the first to think of this...

We've seen Enfield carbines in 7.62x39, and I think we all know they're awesome. ;) But, seriously, I really want an Enfield in 6.5 Grendel. Is there a way to get such an animal? Ohhh!!! Oh! Another idea... Winchester 1895 in 6.5 Grendel! Man, somebody's gotta start making these guns, I...

.303 milsurp to keep your eye open for

I've got an Enfield to feed, and I know that most of the milsurp in this country has dried up. However, it does come along once in a while, and I was wondering, what is the good stuff? What should I hunt for? I intend to do a bit of shopping around, and I want to buy ammo in large quantities...

Sierra MatchKing .243" 95 grain OAL

I have been trying to find the smallest space I need to fit a 95-grain .243 SMK into. I am trying to fit it into a 15.5mm space between case neck and the end of the cartridge. Can anyone help me out? Will they fit?

Trying to do forward ejection with a rotating bolt... Need internals of F2000...

Anyone have diagrams of the action of the F2000 or FS2000? I need to figure out how they mated a rotating bolt with a forward ejection system. I tried designing one myself, and will continue to work on it, but seeing FN's design would make it a lot easier.

Why the AK's magwell is better than the AR's...

Why the AK's magwell is better than the AR's: a newb's opinion that Stoner got it all wrong. Okay, a few disclaimers first: I have zero combat experience. I have shot an AR and and AK, once and twice respectively. I have very little rifle experience in general. I am not speaking to any other...

Requirements Set For Ultimate Survival Rifle

Okay, so I'm giving intense thought to the end-all, be-all survival rifle as we can make it today. So, I want to come up with a set of requirements, but I want your input. This rifle would be THE rifle you would use if you had to go minimalist. It would have to shoot foe and potential meals...

    Current Sources for Yugo AK-47

Does anyone know where one can get a Yugo AK nowadays? I'm interested in one here soon, and Classicarms doesn't have them, not does anybody on Gunbroker.

Talk of Vaporware: 30-round 6.5 and 6.8 PMags when the ACR comes out?

Basically, the title says it all. Assuming the ACR does hit shelves, do you think Magpul will release 30-round PMags for the 6.5 Grendel and 6.8 SPC versions? I currently know of no full-cap mags for those two calibers, and I think it'd be pretty neat to have 30-rounders in those calibers. Do...

The Short Barreled Shotgun Picture Thread

I know you guys have got them. It's time to bring them out of the woodwork. Any shotgun, any at all, with a barrel under 18.5". I wanna see them. :D (I loves me some NFA goodness)

    Hk33

Anybody own an HK33? I'm looking for high-quality images of this rifle, preferably with wood furniture. If you own one and have a set of pics, please put them as attachments so that I can see them full-size. Oh, and post multiples. I'm just really interested in this rifle in particular right...

    .500 S&W Special

I can't find any data on the .500 S&W Special, save bullet weights and velocity. I don't know it's pressure, case dimensions, or any ancillary reports or research on it. Anyone know of a good source for info on this cartridge? I think it'd make a great "thumper" at low pressures.

    AK in 6.5 Grendel?

I think it's only a matter of time until we get some kind of Kalashnikov-based rifle in 6.5x39mm. Does anyone know of any plans on the horizon? I know I'd sure love a Saiga in 6.5 Grendel...

    Flechettes

I'm reconsidering flechettes for use in an infantry rifle design I'm working on. I understand the tests done on them in the '70s ended in failure. However, I think that there may be design areas that are still undiscovered in that vein, and so I am dusting off all the info I can gather on them...

An entry on ballistic coefficient from Wikipedia...

This looks like a typo, but the more I think about it, the more it makes sense... Can someone help? If this statement is true, there's a lot I can do with bullet construction (and it might explain the unusually high BC of the .311" round used by the 7.62x54R...).

So about every week one of these threads comes up...

And they always ask something like "If you could only have one gun for the rest of your life" or "If you could only have one shotgun, rifle, and pistol for the rest of your life". Well, what about six? What if you could only have six guns for the rest of your life? They can be anything: six...

    AN-94 Abakan Internals

Does anyone have definitive schematics of the internals of the AN-94 Abakan rifle? I checked Popenker's site, and all he's got are the firing cycles, I want a look at how they downshift from 1800 rpm to 600 just using the selector.

    The Large Magazine Problem.

In my research on infantry rifle technology and history, it has become clear to me that ammunition, in whatever bullet weight and velocity, will be significantly lighter and smaller in the future. Since 60 rounds may end up weighing what 30 used to, and since they will take up less space, we...

From Father to Son, is this a straw purchase?

Well, as some of you are aware, I just got my first rifle, an Enfield No. 4 Mark. I. Of course, in actuality, my dad got a new rifle, the aforementioned. Ugh. Okay, so we talked to the FFL for a while when we were picking it up, and he said that we must go back to him to "transfer the weapon"...
